...and on a much sadder note it seems my one cat has cancer. Big tumor in his chest wall. We'll have to put him down on Monday it looks like, take him to be cremated after. I'm really devastated. He's been with me for like 14 years. He's never been a well cat though so I guess it's the merciful thing to do. It's not likely surgery would help. I can't really afford it anyway and he likely wouldn't survive it besides. Ugh. As much as I love my animals I hate doing this. I hate having to be the one to do this to him. I'd have much preferred he just passed one day of old age in his sleep, but that's just not going to happen, not in this case, unfortunately. He won't be alone though. This cat is my big Mama's boy, always has been and I'll be sitting there holding him as he goes....

Thanks. I think I knew this was coming. We've been dealing with a lot of random health stuff with him for years and the last six months or so I just knew the vet was missing something but at this point I'm just about tapped out money-wise. Plus he's so old that it seems cruel to just drag it out anymore. I'm not happy about it, but I am kind of resigned. Honestly I didn't think he'd make it to this age so I guess I've been lucky to have him this long. I really am bummed out though. He's my big baby, very special animal, sigh...

It's always hard to lose a kitty, and when it's your 'special' pet that's even harder. Take comfort in the fact that you are sparing him the pain to come, and that the last thing he knows will be your love.

I'm so sorry to hear that magkelly . Unfortunately I know what it's like. My lovely cat Noor had to be put down a few years ago because she had cancer in her throat. If we didn't let her go to sleep, she'd slowly suffocate . I still miss her sometimes, she was such a special cat, no matter how dorky that may sound, she really had a personality and we were a match made in heaven <3
