Anne close-up (AE Blueberry)

Postby Evelien » Sun Mar 25, 2012 4:17 pm

(Cross-posted at DoA, please don't shoot me ;))

This photoshoot made me realize that my Anne's eye lashes aren't glued in properly, I'll have to reattach them. I still wanted to post these photos. I'm not a pro with a good camera, but I like taking pictures of my dolls with what I have. Building criticism and any advice or tips are 100% welcome. I always try to create a nice composition, but I know zero, nothing, nada about lighting and colour...

Shes' very lovely! I love the lighting in them, and the softness of the colors. These are beautiful as-is, but my only advice would be to crop out some of the unused space. Though you really don't even need to. Very nicely done. :D

Your composition is amazing -- the second to last photo is perfect in so many ways! Even if you think you know nothing about lighting and color, you really chose some pretty good parameters for these shots.

On the whole, natural lighting is the best lighting you can have (mornings, rainy days, and any other time with a fair amount of light) -- however, point-and-shoot cameras can be tricky. Playing around with different lighting and getting to know your camera's settings are the two most important things I've learned that help with my not-so-SLR digital camera (as if anyone here knows, what with my lack of picture posts >.<). You really have a good eye (and a beautiful model -- Anne has such a sweet face!), so experimentation will probably be the best way to see what works.

Thank you! I sometimes don't crop out the unused space because of the composition I have in mind actually, it's all there for a reason in my mind anyway, haha ^^

I pushed the lashes back in place a little but they're just not sticky anymore, they're hanging loose a bit. Up close it's very visible and very ugly ;). I left out the pictures in which it really showed the most. And thank you so much! I'm in love with her too!!

Parameters? Wut? XD
I did check if I liked the amount of natural light in the shots before I continued, but I didn't play with my point-and-shoot camera settings to be honest. I really should. Looking back, I think my pictures look a bit too blue-ish, really. But it's hard for me because I'm slightly colourblind and often when someone says a picture is -for example- too yellow, I don't see it.
Thanks so much for the compliments ^^

hi. your pics are beautiful. a lot of times if you have a point and shoot digital, the camera uses the best setting for the pic you are taking. i just recently started shooting bjd, but i have been shooting conventions for years. i am not a professional. the best advice i can give is just practice, have fun, and be prepared to get rid of lots of pics. i tend to pitch somewhere between 1/4 and a half of what i take because i find something wrong with them.
