Supercrappy pic of my work in progress diorama. As I said it's hard to take a decent picture of it as my room is too dark!
It's still missing the background, (the blue you see on the background is my wall! XD ) The only complete thing is the lab on the left, the front table an chairs. The green one on the background is going to be modified to be a control platform.

The doll is miss Cnidaria my WIP obitsu clear with the clear cloack I sewed for her using plastic. She misses a wig and face up but I have to complete another doll before making her! >o<

Top view of the lab.. again a bad picture. :(
I'ts made of a lab rement, some nail art bottles and the shelves I made with pencil lead empty cases! Recycle, yay! >o-

In just a word: COOL.
I've thought about using nail art bottles to make stuff for my dolls, but never about pencil leads cases for shelves Oo That's sheer genius XD (just because we're talking about transparent items...) And Miss Cnidaria's coat is really fitting, that plastica was a really good choice!

Talking about the shelves to be honest I would never had thought it too.. but I wanted to make some clear shelves and the only thing I had was a sheet of acetate that was too flexible so I began going back and forth in search of something I could use. Then I remembered I had just thrown away a bunch of empty pencil leads cases that I used to collect for some unknown reason in my desk's drawer... XD

The diorama is hopefully going to look much better with a proper background and acessories but I'm still searching a method to make the view from the front window changeable without disassembling the whole diorama each time! >_<

Definitely look at the scrapbook papers. I've accumulated a stash of those, including brick, stone, tile and wood patterns. Scrapbook "prop" packets (usually themed) can also have small items that dolls can use (paint brushes and palettes, tiny printed money or playing cards, etc. )

Another option (though not as cheap) -- look at dollhouse making supplies. Particularly the flooring -- wood and tiles -- there are some very nice pieces out there.

Another good source of "carpet" -- drapery and upholstery fabric pieces. Once in a while, a fabric store might sell off its discontinued fabric samples (I just got a whole stash at a local Joanne's for 50 cents apiece. You never know what you'll find.

Props for 1/6 scale aren't too hard to find -- between fashion dolls and military action figures, there's a lot out there already. You can also make a lot, using sculpey, wire, beads, plastic packaging scraps, styrofoam packing pieces, plastic miniature plants, or bits of this and that. Also if you can get to the right kind of hobby/craft store, look at shadowbox items -- they're usually a little larger scale than dollhouse props, which (being 1/12 scale) tend to be a bit small. Still, even dollhouse-scale props can work sometimes!

Space ship looks great too!

Yes I noticed dollhouse material is expensive! I'll search for scrapbooking material even if I usually don't find any tiny pattern.. maybe I'll search online! My mother used to make me barbie clothes with fabric samples.. and they looked great! XD I also saw on ebay an amazing desk with accessories for military action figures but it had nazist symbols on it so I let it go... ^^''

Here there is a "panoramic view" of the dioramas... actually this picture was taken some time ago so now there are some more things. One of next days I'll make a window so that the one on the left will be completed. Above there's a smaller showcase where I keep non obitsu dolls (if you go to Flickr you'll see info about each doll pointing at them with the cursor)

Well, Nko, even with this only photo you already have more dolls than me and in less space, so I can stop worrying about having too much dolls in only one little bedroom XD I think I've seen the desk you mentioned, is from a seller that have amazing 1/6 chessboards, statues, columns, an entire "ritual sacrifice area" and similar things too? I almost wanted to buy a statue or the chessboard but it was too expensive -_-
