How to Make a Space-saving 1/3rd Bed (x-posted)

Postby Resu » Sun Jun 27, 2010 3:08 pm

I had been entertaining the idea of building myself a 1/3rd scale bed, but there was one thing about the potential project that discouraged me the most: where the heck am I going to store the bed when I'm not using it?

So, this came to mind and it worked out really well.

Materials:

- Wire rack (the ones made up of squares that you build yourself)
- 1 pillow
- 1 large piece of fabric
- 3 sheets
- 1 pillow cover
- Small doll-sized pillows

This is what it looks like before I dressed it up.

Pillow for the mattress. Just wrap the pillow in the fabric and let the rest of the fabric hang off the edge.

Add the one sheet to the left and another to the right. The last sheet on top hangs slightly over the front and the rest drapes off the back. The result is this!~

Use the pillow cover as the blanket and you can take smexy pictures of your dolls in bed. XD
Then, when you're done, just dismantle the bed and store it away until you need to use it again.

Set up time: 30 minutes

Excellent use of space and ingenuity! I suspect your problem will be getting the dolls to get OUT of it LOL.

Isn't that true! I get the feeling they want me to leave it as their hang out instead of the wagon and box of props that they're sitting in/on right now.

NICE!!! I'm thinking Namiko, and also Mitzi and her friend who will be showing up sometime around my birthday. I have my heart set on a traditional Japanese bed for Yumiko and Z.

BTW some pet beds make interesting couches for dolliehs. '70s style convo pit!
