Play nice and treat others as you wish to be treated.

And don't make Greyhaunt mad. You won't like her when she's mad.

This. This made me lol.

But I agree with some of the others, I think this is already the best doll forum out there, and it's small size makes it manageable. I can come here and click "view all new posts" and not be trampled by sixty pages of stuff. On DoA, I have to subscribe to the threads I like, and browse when I want to find something new.

....I did not know we had a button that does that. That...makes my life a lot easier >.< And yeah, I'm mostly here for the community(and dolliehs) so I love that I can keep track of what's going on without going crazy.

Perhaps it's best to keep in mind that best does not necessarily equal biggest, or vise versa.

Would it be a bad thing if everyone were to think we were so awesome that 500 people would join tomorrow? Not necessarily. (Well, okay, everything would crash, but otherwise....)

That said, how do we keep it the best? (I'm with those who thinks that it is already the best!) Like said before: participate and be nice! If you think you have a great idea that might fly here, let Greyhaunt know. I'm sure, if it goes with her vision for the forum, she'd be happy to try to help it along.

I'm going to admit that I prefer it stay smallish and community-like rather than it become a place where everyone wants to come. For that, we have DOA, which even with some of it's issues is a really good forum. Here, though, we are small enough that people are not just friendly, but friends. Here I feel I can ask stupid questions or post less than stellar photos and not worry that someone I haven't even seen post before will come in and ridicule me.

Don't get me wrong, if someone comes up with a great idea for the board, be it a topic or whatever, then by all means please do share. However, the forum is GreyHaunt's vision and the rest of us are just enjoying the ride! :D

I really have to disagree with you. I think the more people the better - the more dolls the better. Isn't that what a forum is for? I would be pretty turned-off by a forum with an elitist attitude with only some exclusive members. (Den of Angels redux anyone?)

It's not to say I don't respect your opinion on the matter - I just think it's nice to want to promote gaining new members and forum activity. When this forum in it's previous life was Dollfie Dreamland, it was linked to the Junkyspot forum which has an insane amount of new members nearly constantly. There was never any problems with it before and so far I haven't seen any elitism here, I think it's nice to keep it that way.

Shouldn't we be flattered that someone that is new likes the forum so much that they would like to find out more ways to promote it? I think that means we are doing a good job here!

That's not what I meant. The more people the better is fine, I never said anything about not welcoming new members. I love having new members. I was a new member once. We all were. And of course the more dolls the better-- with spam!!

The bit about "making this the best place" irked me a little. It would be like me, a new person you don't even know, showing up at your house and trying to rearrange your furniture, telling you that it could be the best living room ever, with just a little work. We're already an awesome forum with awesome people. What's there to fix? Everyone is fantastic here. I'm not trying to argue or be rude about it. It just irked me. I'm a grouch. I'm grouching. I have grouched. *shrugs*

I'm not sure but I think we all might be interpreting the OP's post in different ways. Maybe they came come back and clear up what exactly they meant?

I don't think they meant ill by their post, they were just trying to express that they really enjoyed the forum and think it deserves more notoriety? Maybe it's best if the OP comes back and explains what they meant exactly by that phrase.

Of course the best way to make a forum great is by lots of participation. Good forums are good because there are people that participate!

I agree with you, it irked me too and I thought it was offensive too in a way.

But then again, even my own titles offend me... I'm just that sensitive XD

-pats Treth- I think a few of us had that initial reaction. XD

I agree, lovelovekitty. I don't think it was meant to insinuate this place wasn't any good. If they felt that way, why join? But I know there's a lot of folks here that love this place so much just as it is. -raises hand- We're such a non-judgmental group, and a lot of us come here because it really is a sanctuary, away from the elitist attitude of other forums. Barbie collectors, AND BJD hobbyists alike. We're all here because we have something in common, and that's a love of dolls, and the creativity they can represent.

Though I think it would be great if there was a stickied thread just about sculpture and mold-making, much like the Tips for Handsewers thread, though I don't remember if that one is stickied or not. It totally should be if it isn't. ^_^

lol Evelian....
