Great news, Okami! No matter what the new company is like, they will probably seem heavenly in comparison!

Two small rejoices for me:
My mother bought my dolls a cooking set yesterday. I haven't picked it up yet, but at least they can now cook their food!
I had been lead to believe that I could not eat grain based products, but have recently found out that I was told wrong! (Long story- not getting into it) Tonight...my first plate of spaghetti in over a year!

A friend of my daughter believed he was gluten intolerant because both his mother and sister were. Testing proved otherwise. Apparently the rashes and swelling were all psychosomatic.

@VV Yes, yes they were, and I'm so glad I'm done with them. And thanks again for the support everyone. ^_^ It really does mean a lot.

And wewt, first day done. Was there an extra hour, for more training in the "elevated position" which I accepted. Dun dun dun! I am a shift supervisor! I just... I don't even know how it happened. o.O But apparently, the manager was so impressed with my first interview, and my resume, that she gave me the first shot, out of the 5 people she's hired over the past two weeks. Apparently, she told the friend of mine that recommended me, that she believes I've got the spark to light a fire under the bums of the rest of her employees.

Now, the one drawback... the staff I'll be supervising is mostly older, particularly in relation to my own age of 25. At the bare minimum, the youngest person I met today is likely twice my age or more. Many of these people have been here for months, at least, and most of them for years. I've now come in, and right through the door been given an elevated position, over someone that was recently demoted, and in their age group, no less. From our mature adult forum members, is there any advice you can give me on how to approach them in the future, without offending them? How would you want to be approached by the young newbie who walked in the door with a supervisor position? How would you like to be spoken to, if you were to approach me?

Okami - If they're inclined to have a problem with it, they're going to have a problem no matter what you do or say. The best way to approach it is with confidence. I know it's difficult to walk into a situation like that, but if it was me in their position I would want someone who's not self conscience about the fact that they know I was passed over. Decisive but not a know-it-all. Make it clear you're willing to listen to them, especially on how they're used to things being done, but that you're not afraid of them. Also, a huge congratulations to you! I'm sure you'll do great in this position!

Totally not dollieh related but I got my birthday present early. Finally, I have a new mattress! No more aches and pains while trying to sleep on lumps, bumps, and broken springs!

Dollieh related : The 1:4/1:3 scale lute finally arrived after I ordered in February! I'm still wondering why I had to wait so long other than a possible stock issue. But YAY!
My what big EYES you have!

A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

FINALLY have the urge to work on face-ups again!! ^__^ I have been neglecting all of my dolls and doll projects while working on refining my painting techniques. :3 But today I just have the itch and motivation. Gonna work on my 48cm head first, then maybe either my VMF Risa or my DDH06. Yay!!

Wow...omg wow. Ok, so other than the pressure of a supervisor position, I am totally loving this. I came home from work today, bone-tired and a bit sore, but I love it. I haven't been this tired since I worked at Universal Studios on the stock team. I was more or less doing the same sort of work I did as a stocker, but I don't have to deal with the Florida heat and sun, the random rainstorms, or the bitchy tourists, and with a bit more paperwork. And I make almost double what I did at Universal. I busted ass today, and there's nothing better than doing a hard day's work, and knowing you're actually getting paid what it's worth.

I made a bonehead mistake when I first got there, and that was leaving my friggin name badge in the car, but other than a short reprimand not to do it again, that was it. My boss is pretty fair. If you screw up it's 'don't do it again', and done. And it's a busy job... I didn't stop all day long. Nine hours flew by. I was only supposed to be there til 3:30, but I didn't leave til 5, because there was still work to be done, and by golly, I was getting it done. My boss asked if I was ready to leave at 3:45, and I said I don't mind staying a little later to help her finish up. Though she practically kicked me out at 5 lol, saying "go on, I can't have you here any more than nine hours."

And it is freakin' awesome to be told to "take your break and don't come back til your time is up." Whereas with AFA, it was "even though we're deducting half an hour from your check, regardless, we 'encourage' you to minimize your break times. Only leave your station as long as it takes to pee. Remember, this is an opportunity." Pfffft.
