The idea of having a massive figure guarding my room really appealed to me back then.
The larger dolls almost seem like elven creatures. Looking at pictures comparing larger dolls with people sometimes makes them look alive. Little emissaries from the realm of Fae.

Now, I have a 72cm Shakan (naked, nameless and unpainted still) and he is in my room. He doesn't feel like a guardian nor reminds me of an elven creature. He does though make me think of an articulated artist's manikin. It's harder to photograph because he's so heavy I actually break out in a sweat posing him.

When I try to imagine doing with with even larger dolls I almost can't do it. Where on earth would I put it? What are companies thinking?

I know what you mean! I'd think it would be fun to have it looking out the window through the blinds or something twisted like that. It would be quite fun to freak out the neighbors. ;-)

I already freak out my neighbors... because I go outside wearing a cat-eared headband. The doll looking out the window would just be a bonus.

Wait...are you saying wearing animal-eared headgear is unusual?

Around here, yes. The typical go-to is those headrags and caps with ghetto logos on them.

Around here outdated business casual is the norm. Girls are still wearing sweater sets. I burned all mine. (just kidding) I took them to Goodwill. I went to DC last summer and got a dose of current corporate fashion. I'm glad I'm not working, I couldn't handle the tucked in button up and pencil skirts. But again that was last year. Who knows what's big now? I live my life in standard house-wife gear. Sweats, t-shirts, jeans. And yeah, I often wear a headrag when I'm too lazy to fix my hair. hahahaha.... I've got one on now. LOL @ ME... it's red. Wonder if that means anything?

Just that you're awesome. I have different head scarf things for different messy activities. The roommates have picked up on the color queues. Light blue means resin casting, black is plaster casting and the one that once was red but now is pink means I'm either doing a very thorough cleaning or painting.

I use bandanas. XD Usually the white one, because it went through the bleach once, and all the black patterns on it turned brownish pink.

I really wish I could find some small-scale bandana fabric to make one for Shy. He's got an outfit planned that's very similar to a Wild Wild West/Deadwood look. I need a bandana and a black doll-sized Stetson, and then I can start making it.

I do like how much easier it is to sew for the bigger dolls, but the ease of sewing is counterbalanced by the difficulty of pattern drafting. It's much easier to manipulate a small doll one-handed while taping/pinning/snipping drafts with the other hand.

I have deep window sills that I would love to display my dolls in. The windows receive full sun through out the day though and I don't want to see what color gray resin turns when exposed to that much UV!

hahaha.... sweet. A guy in a blue bandana flipped me off once downtown so I didn't know if colors meant anything or not. My color code is... "this looks clean. I'll wear it."

@Happy, Window-sill doll would be UV-ified. That could be pretty nasty. I hide my dolls in a dark corner on a shelf. Except Ivan, he's still sprawled out on his chair lookin' all buff. Sexy bastard won't wear a shirt. Foster looks funny sitting beside him.

@Okami, You know, I bet you could print some small scale bandana prints over at Spoonflower. Check them out and see if they're reasonable on the prices.

I've always liked big dolls, tred or not~! ^__^ 72-100cm = best size~!

still, I might get something smaller too~! We'll see~! ^__^ at least 60-68cm dolls are okay~! ^__^

Personally i don't like tiny dolls, but maybe some day my doll will want a doll of her own, who knows XD

edit: sorry for necroing an old topic... XD
