Desperate Housewives Bree, who I have renamed Sabrina, arrived quite unexpectedly on the stoop just before lunchtime. It's a lovely color red but she has a bit of a flyaway hair thing going on. I had to take her into the bathroom and wash and condition her hair, but otherwise she is just beautiful. I'm going to take pics to post here in just a bit. I just want to let her hair dry fully before I mess any more with her.
The outfit is just immaculately done from inside out. This has got to be one of the nicest 16" outfits I've seen from Madame Alexander. White satin goddess dress, with white crepe draping over that. High waist, with a deep blue sapphire rhinestone pin on the bodice. Circle link bracelet, silver. Silver dangle earrings with crystal diamond chips. A white and silver brocade clutch purse. Under all that some really nice white lace hipster panties and nude thigh highs edged with lace. She's got hazel green eyes and a naturals and peach makeup palette. Lips and nails match. She does have very articulated arms and articulated knees but not articulated feet or ankles. She has the standard fashion feet, solid ankles.
The stockings and undie combo surprised me as you don't see that very often with modern themed 16" dolls, just the retro ones. I am very please to see that as I like to use those for boudoir shots and I have a white lace and satin corset somewhere that should really look nice with these. The shoes were silver sandals. These were about the only thing I didn't care for in regards to the outfit. I didn't mind the silver but they were just paper up top and rather flimsy so I ditched those for some nice thicker white sandals that I had. They have ankle straps, slightly square heels, and they stay on better. I think they look a bit better with the dress besides.
There are a couple of small wrinkles from the box ties but I don't want to try ironing white satin. It's too easy to scorch and I don't have a steamer so I'm just going to let those fall out over time. They're not that noticeable with the satin anyway. Technically the brooch is supposed to be all diamonds too. I did look it up. The original outfit had a clear brooch. The sapphire one looks okay but I am going to see if I can find a similar one at Micheal's that's all diamonds so I can replace it. I've got something else that this would look nicer on, a blue outfit and I think I'd actually prefer it with diamonds instead. I have a ribbon with some silver printing on it somewhere. I may just put that diamond brooch on that and use it as a sash where the white ribbon is under her breasts now. I think it would make a nice alternative to what she has now.
At some point I'd like to buy or make her a longer wig in the same carrot hair color. I'm not crazy about the hair quality on MA 16" dolls. It's acceptable, but it's really not as nice as it could be. It in no way resembles Tonner or Ashton Drake/Integrity Gene hair. My platinum blond Alexandra Ford doll's hair is like this too. It's a bit cotton like and tends to go all over the place. The one doll I have that's MA that has nice hair is wigged actually. I think a good wig for this doll would be much better than the hair she came with. She needs a good Monique maybe. I might just have to splurge at some point on something a bit better. She's too pretty for this hair....
