48cm Obitsu eye question

Postby Sixoclock » Fri May 04, 2012 5:40 pm

Okay so I thought the 48cm took 18mm eyes ( I could be wrong). For the life of me, I cannot get my 18mm Obitsu eyes to fit. I have tried snipping slits into the eye pockets and even cutting pieces out of them. There is still a bit of a gap! >_< Not to mention my fingers are sore as hell.

I really wish I had noticed this before doing the face up, as I would not have to be so gentle in trying to cut. Ugh. Any thoughts on what else I can do to get these eyes to fit ( short of beveling) ?

Worse comes to worse I can try to find the eyes in a smaller size, as the ones I have in her now just don't fit the character. Damnit, I wS really looking forward to seeing her completed. :(

Mine are 18mm Obitsu eyes as well, and they took a little fenagleing, but they went in fine, and were quite stuck after that, with no cutting at all! I still might take them in half, because there's simply no space to maneuver them at all with the neck piece. :/ The size is not a problem however.

The next logical step for me, though, would be to simply remove the eyes pockets and keep her eyes in with putty.

How about trying the hair dryer manuver?

It worked in getting my nano gretel's eyes in...

Oh, I can get them in.... but as I mentioned, there is a slight gapping issue. I may try cutting more though.

And by idean, I mean idea. :) Silly ipad.

Cutting them out even in small pieces was such a pain yesterday. I am really hoping the hairdryer works. :/ I get so hyper nervous of screwing up the face.

Hmmm, I must have misunderstood then. :c I still stand by "if it gives you less problems than trying to get them to fit, remove the eye pockets"

Can we see some pictures of what you've done? That might help us all to better assess the situation, and so we don't suggest things you've already tried.

OKay so after cutting more of the pockets off, I was able to get the eyes in with minimal gapping- enough that I'm fine with anyway.

So now the issue is the damn eye stems. Gonna have to pry them off somehow. Tried a thin knife but that didn't work. Annoyance. Just trying to avoid cracking the eyes. >_<

Let me know what you come up with, I'll probably experiment a bit when I get home tonight myself. Those stalks are so annoying. I had to take her head off to take her shirt off because it was staining her, and when I put it back on she went crosseyed. :T
