definatly. i have some pretty massive social anxiety issues. slipping a tiny into my purse really seems to help. sure i may get odd questions for being in my 20's* and playing with dolls, but i don't care. having something that can stave off a panic attack with me is a greater priority than looking silly. and a tiny is easier to carry than a plushie. lol.

*around here, people in my age group are trying desperatly to throw off "childish" things like toys when they become "grow-ups". glad my social circle isn't that silly but even amongst them i'm still outside the norm with my dolls

Omg yes!
My mother also took away all my toys when I was a child.
I am 50 and just got my first dolls in my life.
I have actually had happen when I have been extremely stressed over elderly parents,
holding my doll on my lap,
an 'urgent' look come over their face--- followed by them throwing their arms around
my neck hugging me...
Coming to this forum is relaxing also,
as well as sewing them clothes by hand I find myself calming with each stitch.

If I'm angry or upset or having a panic attack I'll grab one of the dolls, almost always Taavi. If for some reason I can't go grab one myself, like I'm on the phone or something, and the fiance see that I'm upset, he'll go grab Taavi and bring him to me to hold. Always works.

Dolls are a great distraction. I don't actually cuddle them, but I 'fiddle' with them, play with them or just look at them and I'll feel a bit better :)

I brought Lola to work with me today. Which is good, because things are icky at work right now. She helps combat the negative vibes.

I'm stressed out right now and Kaname is my cuddle bug at them moment...I just feel really upset due to something that happened and seeing him and holding him really is helping me calm down a bit....

I had a hard day at a class today and cuddling Myri helped until I could come home and cuddle my family and cats.

I get it. Whenever my mother and her husband are fighting, I go into my room and do dollieh things. Sometimes I hold Akane (Khar would probably kill me), or I'll make Akane some clothing. I try and fail to make Kharis clothing sometimes too.

I'm more likely to leave the dolls alone when I'm stressed and reach for a book or video game to drown the real world out of my brain until I feel better.........
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

AHA, but what if all the doll crafts become stressful if you take on too many projects at once and the pressure drives you crazy? *blink* I didn't mean me. No, not at all. I'm not stressed out by all the demands for clothes and shoes and clothes and .... *screams at Ivan* "NO YOU CAN'T HAVE A SHIRT!" See guys, it's all about balance. If I'd tried to make death knight armor, carve out and make new knee joints on a BBB to accept new Soom legs, and sew clothes for another two new dolls all at once I'd go mad. So some of those things are on the back burner. *screams at Ivan again* "STOP TRYING TO CLIMB THE FRIDGE! YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR BITS!!" Ahem, anyway. Like I was saying, just enjoying all the doll crafts one at a time is the way to go. Like how I do it. One at a time... *rocks back and forth* "They're staring at me... make it stop.... must go craft... to appease the dolls... aaaaahhhhh"
