Nope, no negativity here.

Actually I love a lot of the larger dolls but they're so much out of my price range that they're more so dreams whilst others I love that are smaller are easier to obtain. I love tinies though they're just so cute. (The RS Yu made my heart melt she looks like a mini Mei..In my eyes at least and Mei's my favorite RS sculpt.) Though when you do get your doll post tons of pics. We love spam here.

ah... well, i'm pretty much getting a job just so i can buy (large) dolls, so... and yeah... i think i'll do my fair share of posting then ^__^ but! first i need to get a good camera (i had one, but i sold it last year)~ but that's no prob, as soon as i have my dolliehs i'll buy a good camera! ^__^ that's all i'm getting a job for anyways XDD

Thank you for your answer, and for sharing the pictures and knowledge <3 and i think you're right~! i agree, i wouldn't be a good owner for an obitsu/vinyl doll... from what i've seen, it's just not for me~!

i don't exclusively want big dolls, if you look up, you'll see that i was just warming up to the idea of having a baby hujoo (12cm) as a doll... XD but for the most part, yes, i prefer my dolls in the 62-100cm range~! ^^

i think it's a western ideal that dolls have to be small... i never shared that ideal~!

also, i don't think i'd ever trust someone enough to send them a doll i really love, any more than i would send my dog or my child (I don't have either, but if i did - just for comparison) to someone... if anything, i'd fly to wherever the artist lived and carry my doll there myself, and not leave her side~! i don't have any trust issues with people, i just also wouldn't think of my dolls as just "things" ^^;

I laughed when I read this. I learned to do face-ups so i wouldn't have to send a doll away. I can do an adequate job, but when I needed a particular look-I broke down after 6 months and sent my very favorite resin doll for a professional face-up. I was more afraid of the mail system than anything else. But, it was the best decision I could have made-she now looks like I imagined she would. It was much easier to send 3 boy heads to be done before they got put together and dressed.

i'm glad it worked out for you~! i think i won't change on this however, if i want a professional faceup, i take a plane to wherever i can get one XD i know it's more expensive, but hey, i like travelling and i love flying, i'm flying all the time anyways XD edit: besides, over the years i've gotten really good at finding cheap flights~! it's really easy, when you forget about the airline being from the same country as you, and just look around ;o some Asian airlines are great for cheap flights, and European ones too

Yeah...I'm sixteen and I got my first doll when I was fourteen...And hey not all dolls are for everyone. Personally I prefer Obitsu's and smaller dolls in the 40cm range. Hell I'm considering re-shelling my character Sanya into a different shell because I want to do action poses and I know that an Obitsu does it great. If I want her to be tan I'll break out the rit dye.

Just a warning we also can get pretty random. (Whole thread converted to spork discussion. Yes I am dead serious.)

Eh? Why the Rit dye when there's a perfectly good tan VMF50 over at Hobby Link for about $350? I'd also really recommend against the dying, mainly because the joints will take the color differently than the vinyl 'skin'. Plus, you also run the risk of warping the joints with the dye bath. K2 said that the tan VMF50 was really close to Obitsu NS, and it wasn't too hard to re-blush the head to match up with the body. ^.~

Speaking of sporks... crazy as it sounds, you know it's really hard to FIND a spork in Puerto Rico?!?!?! I swear, I am NOT going to make a doll sized spork unless I've got one in hand to take measurements from!!!

As much as everyone is preaching the vinyl love, I wanna step in and preach that resin is just as nice. Plus with some resin dolls you can get them to do crazy things, like my little Pukipuki hand stand or doing the carlton!

oh, vinyl schminyl resin love, yay~! ^__^ i really do love resin... ^^ and cool~! those are really nice poses when i get my resin doll, i need to read up a lot on the restringing/tightening the strings... because i want to make her as poseable as possible! ^^
