Every doll, literally EVERY doll, ages differently. Resin batches differ even within companies. Some pigments in colored resins fade more than others. The resin within the same batch and even the same doll part might LOOK perfectly blended, but on aging and yellowing that turns out not to be the case.

These dolls are partly handmade, are cast by people and not machines, so there is going to be variation in them.

If you want something that is going to stay perfect forever, get one of the hand-cast porcelain BJDs. Porcelain never ages or yellows.

I didn't even know they made BJDs out of porcelain~! interesting :D but no, i'll rather have a doll that i like and that gets yellow over time than one that never gets yellow but that isn't the perfect doll i imagine~! besides... porcelain is SUPER brittle~! that's another reason why i wouldn't want a porcelain one :s

thanks for your answer tho, it was very thorough and useful ^^; and i saved the links anyways~!

edit: many of those dolls are very unique and intriguing~! cool ^^

OoOOOooohh! Forgotten-Hearts is in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. That's not too far from me; about 20-40mins from my home. Some of my friends have mentioned seeing porcelain BJDs at craft-fairs in Western Puerto Rico, so it must be those. It might be interesting to try and meet them and compare dollieh-making notes! ^___^

Actually, I wonder why Forgotten Hears doesn't do their dolls in resin? It's loads less fragile and a LOT more forgiving of mistakes. I guess if I meet them in person, I'll give them the number of my resin and silicon suppliers. ^.~

Low-temp hot glue is easy to use; squeeze a bit, smear with finger, move on to the next section... High temp NOT recommended, for injury to YOU!!! Low-temp won't burn you... it might sting a bit but the glue itself won't burn (the gun will though). You don't even have to take the doll apart, stretch the joint all the way open so the elastic is out of the way and go. It wears down over time, can be easily peeled off, then reapplied, and the glue is cheap!

Low-temp hot glue can also be used to make removable modifications like scarring, burning, etc. Completely reversible.

Or buy a doll from Volks and pay for them to install either hot glue sueding for you, or the KIPS system of silicon washers.

Seriously it sounds to me as if you should just buy a doll from Volks at this point. They have a store in the US, in Los Angeles. You can order a doll in person from the Full Choice System which gives you a wide range of heads and body types to chose from. You can get a custom faceup from them. You fly there to select the doll and pick the doll up yourself and even have that welcoming ceremony for her. Every time you want a new faceup, you can make an appointment with them (they have a full staff of faceup artists and can do that), fly out there, have her taken care of, and fly back home again.

Thank you for the info~! and yeah i'll always use always low-temp - i also read that high-temp glue gun can make the glue bind to the resin permanently~!

vv: thank you, i've read your advice a couple of times now~ the problem is, the doll i most want is only sold by the original Korean manufacturer, no resellers ^-^ I trust that company tho, and am happy to order from them~! But they dont offer custom faceups on their website~! i'm emailing to the designer, asking if he offers custom faceups (other than the "stock" ones) 1) when ordering a doll, 2) if sending a doll to him for a faceup~ (yes, of course I trust the original manufacturer enough to send the doll to them, otherwise i wouldn't order from them~)

ps. the welcoming ceremony sounds really cool tho :D if i ever order a doll from Volks, i'll look into it! ^^
