Wow this is a crazy busy forum! I can't keep up!

The place for those OT discussions that you just HAVE to share in a doll themed forum.

Wow this is a crazy busy forum! I can't keep up!

I definitely won't be able to keep up with all of you here. Just spent the last 3 hours reading through new posts lol.

The funny thing is one of the first things I saw was the "I JUST HAD THE EVEN BESTER IDEA!!!" and I was laughing, but I was confused as hell lol. So after reading several threads I kind of got the gist of what was going on, but man did I stay up way past my bedtime catching on! It was kind of like one of those things that you just couldn't go to bed till you figured it out hehe.

Well, anyway, the point of my little musing here is that I'm in the "silly granny" group so I probably won't get to join the fun banter all that often :( I love that you all are so close and have so much fun. Wish I had more time, but I've been spending a lot of time working and plus my little 10 month old niece is here all summer while my mother is off work for the summer, so I want to spend time with her.

Hope you all will forgive me if I commit any faux pas on account of not being as active as the core group. I don't think I'd have time to play with my dollies any if I tried to read everything posted here lol.

Edit to add:
Ok, ditzy lil' old me totally forgot the 2nd part of what I was trying to say in this thread half way through typing it, so here's the rest:

I wanted to say that I usually like to try to be encouraging with people's artistic endeavors and try to say positive things as often as I can because as an artist, I know how so much time and work goes into every little thing we all do. I love seeing beautiful things as well as trying to make them, so I want people's talents to blossom and do my best to encourage things to that end.

I don't want people to think that I'm insincere when I tell people their work looks good. I say it with the consideration that I remember how hard it was when I first tried the same thing, or something similar...

But since things looked so busy, it looked that would be a little too overwhelming a task here with all the projects that people are working on and all the cute and lovely stories and photos and all. But I really do find it all amazing even if I don't get the chance to tell you all that all the time!

I LOVE spending hours just clicking through the threads looking at pics lol. Wish I could comment on every single one that I oooo'd and aaaah'd over. And actually kind of feel bad that I don't have that much time! hehe

When I get on I usually click 'view new posts' or 'view unread posts'. It list all the new stuff on a page or two which helps make it easier to stay on top of things. Every two days or so I click 'make forums read' to clean up the list a bit.

All these functions are located on the front page under the today's date.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Seems really busy to me, because I checked I think about 3 times today and each time there were several dozen new messages lol. I know a lot of them were because of that troll ordeal, but it still seemed like a lot to me. Probably because I've been a member of a lot of sadly empty forums hehe.

Oh yeah, I already found the function to mark all posts read. I just HAD to look and see all the new posts lol.
Also chalk it up to the fact that I'm a slow reader and I get side tracked easily by every little tangent thread, so it takes me a while to go through things that some people would probably zip through.

Hmm... ok, I had another point when I wrote that initial post, but I forgot it and I logged on just now because I was going to write it, but now I forgot it again!

*sits here for a minute trying to remember*

Weeeell I give up! I'll probably remember when I go back to bed again lol

LOL - we usually aren't quite this busy, but as someone else noted, we just had a particularly obnoxious person cause a bit of an uproar here so we are all having a bit of fun blowing off some steam hahahaha. As for silly grannies -well, you'd be surprised how many of us probably qualify for that age bracket so please don't feel alone with it :) And as I once noted to a certain person who is no longer here, it isn't the quantity of posts that makes a good member, its the quality! So don't you worry at all - I'm sure you'll be just fine :)

Problem people are definitely a rare occurrance and we are always fair with new folks...and if anyone ISN'T, you just let me know and I'll take care of it :)

Thanks Greyhaunt, you know, I imagine that there would HAVE to be quite a few silly grannies here since most kiddies probably couldn't afford the good stuff and the crafting materials. And I doubt that there are that many parents that are willing to shell out $600+ for a single doll for their child o_O Hell, I spent over $300 on a very special first birthday present for my niece (14k gold baby bangle keepsake with 3 little diamonds engraved with her name and birthdate) and my whole family thinks I'm crazy lol. But that's a one time thing. I wanted her to have something really special.

On another note:
Ha! It worked! I went to bed and I remembered lol

Actually want to edit my original post because this was a major point of that lament.

Wow, really sorry about how incoherent all my posts have been after midnight. I mean I'm always scatterbrained, but even more so after midnight or so.

We're actually a quiet but fun bunch ranging in various ages. To be honest I like this forum better to DOA because it's quiet and there's not a bunch of silly rules that make zero sense. We have our manifesto yes but it's just tongue in cheek mainly. We like having fun with our dolliehs, keeping up to date with stuff and just being random. I love how when I come here I know everyone because we're a tight knit group and it makes me happy to be apart of it. I came here before I got my first doll and boy was I a nervous wreck...I looked through threads and threads and tried not to ask questions unless necessary and I even bought one of my boys from a member on here. Trust me once you get the hang of things around here it'll seem quiter but most of the activities happen in 1/6th or here.

lol I find this is kinda funny (don't worry, in a good way), 'cause the entire reason for the 'splosion of activity this past week (aka the troll) started a thread complaining about how SLOW this forum is. She wasn't entirely wrong, either. It's usually not QUITE this busy. At least, it's usually easier to keep up and not spend so much time reading.
