Modding Madame Alexander

Well, not Madame herself, obviously.
I just bought a nude Alex on eBay, and when she came, one of her feet was broken in half, and the broken-off half in splinters, and there is a hole in her other foot. I can't imagine what could have caused such damage, especially since her box was sealed and not damaged at all.
The seller was amazing, refunded my money, and told me to keep the doll. She has a lovely face, but her body is a wreck.
BUT I remember that Myotishia modded a Little Apple doll and made her ball-jointed, and I also remember Setsunakou (I think) posting about casting resins, but of course I can't remember where that post is.
Anyway, I'm thinking about taking her apart, looking at her innards, and seeing if she can be remade with ball joints and new feet.
Has anyone attempted anything like this successfully?

Wow! That is such a rare and lucky opportunity! Of course I know nothing myself unfortunately, but I get images of wearing a white lab coat, holding a scalple over your broken dollie o_O hehe

Someone must have done that to her then put her back in the box. I have a dozen MA dolls at least from that series and I have never seen anything like a major QC issue from them. The only thing I've ever had issues with is darkening and yellowing vinyl and that happens with most 16" dolls no matter who the company is it seems. They're pretty anal about checking their dolls over there. I've known people who worked there and they have some pretty tough standards for employment and QC actually. The vinyl thing they can't really help. It's just part of using it as a material. Vinyl yellows sometimes over time, particularly if there's been a lot of UV exposure. But smashed feet? They'd have scrapped that doll at the factory before they just let her out. I have seen reject dolls from there but nothing like that. It's usually a mark on it or something small, but not really destructive. That's way beyond what they'd allow as a reject doll.
