Nicky and a few of my 3D prints.

I've been meaning to do this for a while... finally got around to taking a couple of photos of Nicky (my cute little Volks boy) 'modeling' the prints from my shapeways shop. All of the prints are done in the Nylon, otherwise known as WSF. This material is pretty easy to paint and customize. ^___^

Squee!!! He really is too cute!

With the MSD Kamas. These are light enough to be held in place with some eye-putty!

Kusarigama. The chain moves. To make this one different from the 1:3 scale version, it's got a banded ball as a weight instead of a cylinder. There's also a ball-joint type socket at the base of the handle. Sometimes they arrive with a little excess print material in there, so it needs a little gentle 'help' to become fully functional. ^.~

The throwing stars and kunai. I pretty much use these for all sizes. They are so cutely large in the hands of my Littlefees!

Now for one of the pieces that I'm particularly proud of. The 'pin'. Slap a 1x3mm rare earth magnet on it, and then use a second magnet to attach it in place... and this 'pin' doesn't cause any damage to dollieh clothes. Granted, I would be a little hesitant to let this near my computer, but magnets are like that. ^.~

Second and third shots show one painted with acrylic paint. I also trimmed some of the original parts off, since this is the 'pin' that I tend to put on Kiyoshi as a school 'pin'. But at least it shows what one will start looking like painted up. ^____^

I've got on order a new set of 'torches', rings along with a couple of other small odds and ends. More photos will be taken when those get in. With luck, that should be next week. ^.~

Already got plans for the order AFTER the previously mentioned one arrives. It's got the revised version of the light-up torch, and both sizes of my new butterfly wings.

hmm... I must have forgotten to hit submit again... guess I'm going senile at the ripe old age of 35 T_T

Anyway, once again:
I'm so jealous! I have a huge thing for kusarigamas and the rest of the weapons look fantastic!
Are you going to be painting them soon?

You need to dress one of your dolls as a ninja!

Thanks for all the kind compliments. ^_^;;;

Dirili, if you're jealous, you can get the kusarigama. It's available for sale in my shapeways shop. There is even an SD version, though the MSD one will also work nicely for a 50cm obitsu. ^.~

Actually, I tend to not bother with painting my models all that often. Usually the main reason I get them is to test out the size, make sure that nothing is 'wonky' and then photograph it. Once I'm certain that a particular model is good, then it's added to the shapeways shop. Currently, the only model available for sale that has not been test-printed, is the chainsaw. In another month or so, I plan to remedy that. ^___^

There have been occasions when I've flat out scrapped a model because I considered it too problematic. I've made a couple of segmented chainwhips... still a little 'iffy' on the one that made it through my testing, but it does everything it's supposed to. At some point I'll probably end up remodeling it and uploading something cuter and more delicate looking. Not as dramatic but still a 'significant' remodel, my first 1:3 Kusarigama, instead of having a cylinder for a weight, it had a star. The star kept getting caught in the chain, and I was afraid that if it was tugged too roughly, the chain would break. So, the star was ditched, and the cylinder adopted.

I've also done slight variations between models JUST to make sure that it'll come out. Which is what I did with one of the the 'sci-fi torch'es. There were two versions printed of the same model, one had an extra set of planes in it to bulk out the most delicate part of it. So, if the more delicate model failed, the 'bulked' up version would definitely print.

Zirc has the more 'delicate' sci-fi torch. The one in this shot is the 'bulkier' one, and I'm waiting on a reprint to arrive of the one Zirc has. ^.~

Because I actually HAVE one of the aforementioned scrapped chainwhips...

And another of the kusarigama, just because I have one.

I have to redo these pictures some time... I've painted the weapons since taking these. And find the black kunai... I think Touda hid them... ^_~
