Of course not! I haven't either. Mattel's puns are good (bad?) enough. :P Besides, I love the characters from the show, so I don't mind having dolls of them.

I named mine because she's the counterpoint to my CAM werewolf, Blue.

Mine is the Wal Mart exclusive DotD Draculara, outside of reroots I only have room for one of any given character. I liked her no bangs and make-up better. I started off naming them after the children of Led Zeppelin, there was going to be a photo story in that, and having not seen the toons or read the diaries at the time I didn't even know Jackson and Holt were the same person. The names king of fell by the wayside except for Scarlet, Carmen (Clawdeen), Tamara (Lagoona), Kierra (silver haired reroot Ghoulia), and Jacinta (Frankie). By the end of it all they might end up with their mold names except for the reroots.

I still don't keep up with the toons as I find the voices annoying, it's a TBI thing.

Official Lab video....and what the blog owners were able to actually create.

Video of one of them using the Lab. Warning for frustrated swearing. Srsly.

The more I hear about the Lab, the happier I am I have NO INTERESST in it. If adults can't get it to work properly, I foresee a lot of very upset children.

Pfft, lol. She's basically me if I tried it. I'd swear through the whole thing. I'm really glad I learned the doll customizing skill(sounds like we're in a video game) because now if my future kid or niece decided they wanted a custom doll I'd be like "Pfft,ef that contraption, I'll do it."

pffft pffffft pffffffft <-- I noticed I've been doing that a lot lately.

Ok...seriously!!! I was able to use the lab no problem!! It wasn't hard and I really like the timing device. Now if I wanted one of the tattoos in a certain place and absolutly perfect I would just do it by hand, but for fun on extra dolls and tattoos you just hate and want to experiment with I think the lab is perfect for that.

People seem to be really having a problem with placement on the face, and then the tattoos flaking/cracking. Why there's such a placement problem I can't really tell. Maybe user error? Either way it seems like more hassel than it's worth?

It's a design flaw. The skins are sticky, put it in the wrong place you're screwed, don't get the backing wet right or move the paper slightly you're screwed. The Lab has no placement guides to get the skin applier doodad in the exact spot you want and it even tells you not to have all the pieces of the Monster in at the same time because something might get in the way.

All they had to do was make the skins as stickers. Pull it off the paper, put it where you want, change it, sell a bajillion. Instead they have a temper tantrum in a box.

You can skip the Lab, that doll is the same color as the witch, but the add-ons are great if you want those color CAM parts. Try out some skins or paint the heads. I've got skins on my girls that I sealed with a brush on and when they wear out they wear out.

catshem wrote:I'd hate to reroot (not to mention Rob would rather I didn't) because I like their hair the way it is. :c Especially Cleo's... I'm the odd one out that LIKES her tinsel.

I think I might have left my Cleo's tinsel if it was in good condition. I bought her nude from ebay though, so her hair was mostly a mess anyways. She still needs another heat treatment to get her hair straight. I may use some metallic embroidery thread and put her streaks back in later on. No problems so far from ours on getting greasy hair, though we have none of the basics.

And w00t! I found out when my K-Mart restocks Monsters (Wednesdays!), and they had the Dot Dead Gorgeous line and the Roller Maze girls yesterday! Lots of the exclusive Abbey/Ghoulia 2-packs as well. Walked away with the DDG Spectra, though I had a long hard decision between her and Roller Lagoona. Her Surfer hand tipped the scale towards Spectra. That, and the fact that I'll have to buy a completely different outfit for her, cause I'm not a big fan of her Roller outfit. Though I love Lagoona's hairstyle.
Hopefully, next week they'll get in more and I'll get a chance at the Lagoona again. Went last Saturday and there were only a few lonely SS Ghoulias and a 1600 Clawdeen left. They sell out so fast!

Anyone know why the DDG Lagoona's art has those pretty side-swept bangs but her doll has the funny tendrils sticking up? It kinda seems like none of them match up to their artwork, but at least Spectra has long bangs, not head tendrils.

I wonder if getting printable waterslid paper wouldn't be easier to use on the dolls.

That's how I feel about Ghoulia. She's very cute in the show but her dolls look like... I don't even know. I feel like there's too much makeup on her and since I missed her first wave, every outfit after has made me cringe. Ghoulia doesn't translate from show to doll very well, In my opinion. I also really wish people in my area would buy her cause she always looks so lonely on the shelves.

If I reroot any of them it'll be my custom Cleo. Black, gold highlights, and gold tinsel. I feel like her hair doesn't have enough gold in it.

My spare CAM parts arrived, all have wing and tail holes, the dragon is the same color as the cat, the skeleton parts match the ghost.

This would make it 10 whole girls and 5 in pieces- 4 Lab add ons and the ghost.
