Postby animeangel09189 » Thu Aug 09, 2012 6:04 pm

Also is taking photos of her outside okay? I keep hearing the "no sun" rule even came in a card with her but just thought I'd double check

I have a used violin case that works with my SD. You could probably get one and use the pillows, and still have room for extra shoes and some extra clothes for your MSD.

Try checking local music stores if they have any, I got mine free because they were just going to through it away since it was no longer usable for violins and a few things were broken, but it still has handles, comes with a strap, and locks closed. I think someone on this forum uses a flute case for one of their MSDs, too.

I do! Here is how she fits in it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/almysidaka ... 163451943/

And then here is her in it.

Best part it was less than $20.

When I'm only taking one doll... I wrap them in white fabric, put on a face up protector and stick them in my backpack or messenger bag... what ever one is my 'personal item' on the plane. Both Nagi and Momiji have gone to Europe and back that way. If you aren't traveling by plane, consider a nice wooden box. I got one at a Christmas Tree Shop, or you could look at a place like Hobby Lobby.

Outside photos. I'm very careful to not leave my dolls in the sun for long periods of time. BUT... taking them out for a couple pictures then wrapping back up is part of the fun of the dolls. I just make sure as I'm walking around they are wrapped in the aforementioned white cloth. For walking around with multiple dolls at a festival or Faire, I have a beautiful Amish-made basket that they can all sit in, and I drape the cloth over the handle as a sun shield.

Yes, in time the resin will yellow it's part of the process, but you can lessen it by keeping them out of constant sun. But pictures are worth it! Without moments of sun exposure, I'd never have these pics of Momiji traveling.

I took a small duffle bag and stiffened up the ends with cardboard then put in the pillow with straps in the bottom. One day I am going to look into camera tripod cases.

Several people hand make and sell msd carrying cases, so that's a good option to go for as well. X3 I'm going to try my hand at making one that will fit SD dolls as well, since I prefer messenger bag style.

The one I had was the flute case that she was talking about. :D

I have multiple MSDs, so a small, square duffel bag works great. Or you can put in one doll and clothes and such for her, too. I just wrap my gang in fabric individually and pile them in. I also bought zippered pillows from Soom. They're very nice pillows, with straps inside to hold them in place and even cushioned "mittens" for delicate hands. Pretty much padded sleeves with the ends sewn shut. Trust me, it's worth it. Someone brought an iplehouse to a meet once and two of his fingers had snapped off during transit, even with being in his own carry bag. It was a tragedy. Sleeves are a must for me from now on. Heck, you could probably sew your own easily.

For MSD and SD, I have a rolling sewing machine storage bag that works well. Plenty of room for dolls and other things. I also have a larger craft storage rolling tote with all the dividers moved. I can store probably five or six SDs and MSDs in each.

Gee, methinks maybe my collection is growing a bit large... ^^;

I bought a trumpet bag off of ebay and it is perfect for an MSD doll, plus if I am thinking right (it is in my sewing room in another building) has a little pocket for accessories. It wasn't much- under $20, I think.
But I have also just hauled dolls around in a larger tote bag and even my pocky bag. Put on a face-protector, wrap them in a blanket or towel, kind of fold them into a squatting position, and stuff them in.
