I'm so sorry Kim.

I know it will be so tough right now, just remember that she loved you so much and you to loved her. Love can last, even after death. Think about how much fun you two shared, I know, it's hard. Only time will help you heal.

You gave her a very well-loved life. I hope that memory (and the sweet doggie-snuggle pictures) give you some comfort.

As to why someone can do something like this...ugh. It's hard for normal people to understand that level of disconnect from decency.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet so young it's hard...And I'm so sorry that this happened to Blarney.

Karma will hit the person that did this to her hard. I can promise you that.

I've got lots of home movies of puppies to watch and see if we caught Blarney's chortle. There's all sorts of things like Guinness playing and snarling up a storm then being picked up and cuddled or Dublin doing what we call the collie crouch.

When I'd play lap full of puppies Blarney would be the first one to climb out but when it was just her she wouldn't get out of my lap.

It looks like we might have another puppy coming our way, a black one in need of some fostering. I suppose it's good for my mom and sister who is devastated. If she comes I'll love her.

Blarney was just about ready to start her service dog training too. We had found a green bib, her color, and trainee patches. She was used to being leaned on to help us stand up and we were working on picking up dropped things. Most importantly she was learning how to alert. We had exposed all the puppies from birth and Blarney and Tater showed the most promise. Hopefully the new one will pick up on my sister's seizures.

Well, we've welcomed Velvet in to our home. She's lab with possibly some border collie, pics soon. She has my mom and sister feeling better, I'm loving her as best I can. Her biggest problem is she bites when she plays, I didn't let my puppies bite me so it reminds me how good of a job I did with them.

Already she's taken to following y sister around so hopefully she'll pick up on her job. Either way we need a sizable dog around here.

That's good at least. I can't even imagine how one would go about training a dog to do such things! We have enough trouble just getting ours to sit when they are excited.

Not biting involves the word OUCH! You say it with a deep growling voice they don't like. If they keep gnawing you stick something they can chew on in there. With my puppies I'd catch them sitting and make a fuss and go "good sit!" in a happy squeaky voice. They caught on if they came up to me and sat they'd get attention first. I also got Blarney not to jump when I was carrying something, like the mail, by making her sit then letting her see and sniff what I had. If it was a toy she couldn't have it until she was sitting and told she could take it.

Most of training is patience and giving a name to what they're doing and rewarding good behaviors immediately. They want to please. Velvet is catching on that biting is called OUCH and if she keeps it up I won't play with her, accidents aside, if she sticks to kisses I'll play.
