Should I wait to get a face up before deciding

Postby Astrid » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:28 pm

I got a Soah last month and she was my coveted doll that I had wanted before they discontinued her.

Well I got her last month and I was soo happy. I took her face up off ( not default) cleaned her up and have taken her out maybe three times.

I am not all excited about her as I thought I would be.. in other words I am not bonding with her and I wondering if it might be because she doesn't have a face? lol

I had a list of dolls I wanted and she was second to last but now I am wondering if I should send her off to be rehomed or wait to get her a face up...

I say get her a faceup! A beautiful faceup will really bring out the character of the doll and the personality - right now she's a blank slate, the proverbial bud waiting to blossom. Give her a chance with a faceup!

and I'm envious, of all the Elfdolls she's the only one I've ever thought of buying :)

Get her a spa week with a trusted faceup artist! Sounds like both of you deserve that much.

You are probably right. There were some other heads that I had gotten that I had really wanted but when I got them I kept them for a few months with no face up , then could not connect with them and I sent them away.

I maybe I should take your guy's advice..

Well if you decide you don't want her I'll swap you a WHOLE LOT OF MANGA for her hahahahahaha

seriously though - I had a doll that I'd really wanted, and spent a fortune to get him (at the time my most expensive doll at $600!!!) but I just didn't feel attached and I just couldn't get a faceup I liked on him - so I sold him. Well the person I sold him to sent him to Googlydoogly for a faceup and when I saw how fantastic it looked I wanted to cry that I'd ever been so stupid as to sell it! It taught me that I should always search for the right faceup before calling it quits on a doll!

Yeah, a great faceup can do wonders for a doll, do your homework find a faceup that really speaks to you and do your research and you and your girl should be thrilled with the results.

yeah grey , googly did some wonderful work i loved his faceups too.

I agree about the face up. I just had a doll that needed the face up and right wig, now I can't keep my eyes off her. My Xi- Aliester is in the same boat. I can hear him telling me " Wipe my face up, dye me brown and send me off to a faceup artist that can make me look happy.". Can you get any vibes off Soah? Does she was a soft face, a dramatic one? Do you have images saved of the Soah's that made you want this sculpt? For me, that would be a good place to start.

LOL, I need to email your niece - I have LOTS more manga to offload and I'm doing very cut rate prices just to rehome the stuff :)

You may see him on DoA under the name Hornisse (I think its two ss, might just be one s though). His faceups are just incredible. I wish I had a good photo of my Migidoll Miho I could show you - he's just spectacular!

I'm in agreement with everyone else-get her a face-up! I know personally that I NEVER feel connected to a doll until I've painted it, given it clothes wig eyes etc. Until then, no matter how much I love the sculpt, it's just a hunk of resin/vinyl in doll form
