As an Asian with both of the above, I suddenly feel 'special'. :lol: Your chest may get in the way, but you can't see anyone's hips under the poofy lolita skirts so I don't think that's a problem.

I definitely understand what you mean about money just going to dolls. I was originally saving up for a new laptop, but I ended up spending it all on a new doll instead. ^^;

The Lolita style is interesting and I love looking at the clothes on other people, but I could never actually wear any of it myself in public. I'd be too self-conscious (I HATE drawing attention to myself). On the other hand, if I actually ever make it to an anime convention or something, something like a Lolita dress would be awesome to wear as a costume.

As for my dolls, I have no issues with dressing the girls up in frills and lace. Unlike me, they can pull off the look well.

Yay! Hello, everyone! I wear my lolita in public ( *cough* school *cough*) and also tend to mix it with other styles (any Steamlitas out there?), so I draw my share of weird looks but most comments are positive. I'd love to dress my dolls in Lolita, too, but it's not quite Mihika's thing, and no one else has very many clothes, yet. And I'm pretty sure my boys would kill me if I tried it on them ;)

I'm too old to pull it off, but it's cute on other younger people. I saw a tiny bit of Lolita in Japan. I'm with VV, I'd go for the Victorian lady look or something. I am a huge fan of corsets and 1880's style bustle-skirts. <3

I'm actually going to a lolita meet next friday in London - eep! I'm waiting for my wig to come.. it got stuck in customs and I had to pay for it. Funnily enough I've NEVER had to pay customs on a doll, only on lolita! Haha!

I used to be a tom boy, then I was a massive goth, then gothic lolita, now I'm quite into sweet and other kooky colourful styles. Although I LOVE steamlita, I've never worn it. I used to corset train and wear that with lolita. I got down to a 18inch waist O_O Now I'm like... 28inches LOL

I used to be OBSESSED with loli, but I ran into a hoard of snark bitches on a forum. I lost all interest in the hobby after that. They were so mean, and basically made fun of me because I was making my own loli dress instead of buying one. Because I couldn't afford 'brand'. I was really upset because I thought having handmade items was a cool thing in that hobby.

I'm working up nerve to post this, but this was my dress I made way back in '05/'06. I had *just* put in the zipper and was too excited, I had to try it on! It wasn't finished, I had even said that but it didn't seem to matter. I wasn't 'good enough' or whatever. That whole experience ruined it for me forever. I was also too 'ero-loli' or something.

sorry about the picture, the camera I had back then was like 3mpx! LOL

And I just looked up the Gunne Sax dresses, I love them!! :O I want one, I'm going to scour my thrift stores for one!

O.O That's so cool that you sewed that! I have no sewing skills at all.
While I can't speak for the lolitaness or whatever I think it is a really cute dress! ^_^ And with a petticoat under to poof out the skirt it would be awesome! (I finally figured out that petticoats were underskirts. XD I always had slips for my dresses when I was little, no poofy petticoats. -_-)

Kittyasaurus, you SO didn't deserve to get hate from other lolis. That dress is darling! I love it, you're so talented at sewing :D Be proud! And don't listen to the "loli-elitists" who want to give you grief. Fashion shouldn't be just about brand or expense or fitting the exact rules - it should be about wearing what you like and being creative with it!! I make my own bloomers and skirts. I get plain shirts and add my own lace and buttons. I make my own jewellery. Some of it is lolita, some of it is gothic, some of it is harajuku.. who cares!? It's what I like :) You deserve to wear what you like hun xx

I think it's insane that even within lolita style there are "rules" based on which you're in or out. Isn't the whole point of lolita "dare to be different"? It all sounds very high school to me and I wouldn't even want to belong to such an elitish clique :-\

Oh and kittyasauras, I really like your dress!!!
