Crow's faceup...

Postby Lamia of the Dark » Thu Aug 23, 2012 12:12 am

T__T

I don't want to do it.

I faced up all the little ones who were running around blank (except the spare heads who don't have bodies...) and I dragged Crow out every time I was working on them, but I never started on her...

<_< I have an idea of what I'd do, althoug hI don't have all the details worked out yet.

>_> But once I put a face on her, she will be "one of MY dolls", if that makes any sense... *facepalm* I don't know how to really explain so that anyone else will understand what I mean... I know the difference between how I'd like her to look and what I'm likely to actually put on her face...

*facepalm so hard I'm surprised my brain didn't fly out the back of my skull*

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about?
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

I understand. It's tough sometimes to get the face up just right, and you are slightly limiting yourself with the brush on sealer (since that won't allow you to do the soft gradation with pastels). Have you thought of commissioning someone for her face up?

I thought of you, actually

I do like my own style of faceups, but I also feel like it won't do justice to the doll... I would probably end up lining her eyes in gold (the way I did for my Berry, although perhaps not so thickly) and putting some kind of marking or tattoo on her forehead in order to avoid trying to make eyebrows...

<_< I still haven't decided whether to go with black lips or a skintone lip, or red, but that decision will be easy once the rest of the face comes together.

Haha! Well I'd be happy to work on her if you do decide.

I think red lips would be pretty on her. Black would be too strong, and skintone might be a bit boring. :D

She is a demon princess, you know... and her style is Goth, so black lipstick would not be out of place.

>_> I just feel like I am going to mess up anything I try.

you could always do a black-red blend. red on the inner part of the mouth, black on the outer, blended together. it makes a really neat look, at least on people.

That sounds odd... I don't know if I want to try that.

Unfortunately, I do not have the artistic skills to achieve that look using only acrylic paint... T__T
