Coathangers

Now, I'm sure there is somewhere out there where one can buy dollieh coathangers, but that would deprive me of ANothER project!

Pulling the wire as tight as you can is good and a bench vise or some other way to hold the jig still is useful.

This project brought to you by the number 93, which is how old my dad would be this year. He made me my first (barbie) coathangers this very same way a long time ago.

That's an awesome hand made Jig! I'm too lazy, Ive used my jewelry making "thing a ma jig", which is designed for wire wrapping specifically :) I've used floral wire for making my coat hangers because it's usually a bit stiffer than the craft wire.

Faye Dunaway unable to rein herself in after winning an Oscar a few years before:

And as a result of seeing that movie as a child all my clothes hang on wooden hangers....and my dollies clothes will as well as soon as I figure out a way to make little wooden hangers...

I'm thinking balsa wood and an xacto knife. Not sure about the hook part.

That's a great idea, thanks! I'll figure out where I can get some balsa wood tomorrow. And band aids, I think me wielding an exacto knife is going to call for band aids....of course I did manage to build a coffin for my doll using a friends table saw without cutting any limbs off so perhaps I'll come through this unscathed....

Any hardware (like ACE or someplace) that sells hobby supplies will have sheets of balsa wood. And knives!
I don't know if it is sturdy enough to really hold even doll clothes.
The other idea is birch plywood (you can get it 1/8" thick from hobby supplies sometimes) and a coping saw. Or a jig saw if you like power tools.
I have yet to cut myself w/ an xacto knife. Just never cut towards your other hand and you should be fine!

Maybe an earring hook will work? Like the kind you can find in craft stores for earrings. Just cut off the looped end and a bit of the 'hook' end to make it shorter, drill a small hole into the wood and secure it with a bonding agent.
