Fine here in NJ. 30 minutes from us, not so much. Adios Seaside. My parents and hubs parents have been without power since Monday though. :(

I'm glad I didn't stay down in the area I went to college; it's a horrible mess. They're closed until at least next week.

As for here, we got through fine - just a trellis fell. There were some pretty large trees down on the other side of my street that blocked my way to work Tuesday, but we were pretty lucky. Hope everyone's safe!

Hello, everyone. I'm limping back in after a three month absence.
I'm in NYC, but I live in a huge co-op that has its own generators, so we were fine. We had water and never lost power. My phone was off for part of Tuesday, but that was all.
A few blocks away, a four-story building dropped its front, though, and, though we had power, all around us was dark. When we looked out the windows at night, it was like we were the only lighted outpost in a sea of darkness.
The houses that burned in Queens burned with electrical fires, I believe, caused by shorting out of wet wiring. Water being a conductor, the fire just kept jumping from house to house. They didn't have any idea this would happen, so there was no advance warning to evacuate.
I don't know if the crane dangling from the 70-something floor high rise is still dangling or not.
Friends in the village have been without heat, etc. for several days now, and Staten Island is a mess. Temperatures are going down in the 30s at night starting tonight and continuing for several days, so prayers for those who haven't had power restored would be appreciated
Grocery stores in my neighborhood (Chelsea) reopened for the first time today, and some subway service is restored. The lower part of Manhattan was hardest hit, but nothing compared to the other boroughs.
Missed you all. Lots of catching up to do.
Love and blessings.
