I'm a terrible procrastinator. My longest story is 9 chapters including the prologue...I'm still working on chapter 10 (nine in actuality)...So no I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year...I think it'd be suicide for me.

I'm considering having my daughter, who is homeschooled, enter the Young Writer's Program since they don't have a minimum word count. It would make a great project for her. And she'll probably hate me for it, but she's 17 so that's to be expected. LOL!

I was going to this year since it's the first year my health has really allowed for that kind of thing in a while, but as we're in the process of purchasing a HUD home at the moment, I don't think it's a good idea. I actually spent the first two days of NaNo fully intent on doing it...and became extraordinarily angry about the fact that all of my writing time was being eaten up by phone calls to utility companies and bankers and realtors and contractors. Since the entire month is scheduled to be like that, (plus the fact that I'm a bridesmaid ina friend's wedding next week and am in charge of my mom's 60th b-day the following), I'm choosing sanity over NaNo this year. it's breaking my heart a little, I'm not going to lie.

I've signed up for it again, but as usual, working everyday for the first 5 or 6 days of the month really screws me up.

National Novel Writing Month. It's a 'contest', (no prizes, just bragging rights), that centers around writing a 50,000 words novel during the month of November. It's actually a lot of fun.

Yup, exactly what arrowchild said! It's pitting yourself against yourself - it's the challenge of putting aside an hour or so a day for 30 days to write a little over 1000 words each day. It's especially great for people who need motivation: the people who say "well, I'd love to get this idea out but x,y,z" because it gives you a goal and motivation. I did it last year when I was out of work and it was a great challenge and escape. This year's been fun because I am working now so I have to plan better.

But I also find planning/scheduling fun so I'm just a bit weird there :)

I'm not doing it myself, but I'm helping my friend with hers all I can.

Thing is, she never told me much about it or how it works. Where can I find information?

Nanowrimo.com I think it is? If you google the phrase the website should come up (I'm at work so I can't) and should give you a helpful overview!

I've been doing NaNoWriMo every day all year long. November's going to be pretty normal. Though I'm almost finished with my book! I love it, isn't writing fun?
