Hesitation at Checkout

Postby paladinari » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:21 pm

So for the past few weeks, I've been... I think "obsessing" is a good word, over the Hujoo Yumi on Junkyspot. I visit the page every day, look at her, know how perfect she would be for the character I want to make, know that I can afford her. Sometimes, I even add her to my cart, fill in my info and get all the way to the Paypal page. Then, I "x" out of my browser before I hit "pay now". And I've been doing this... for weeks.

I know that a Hujoo Action isn't exactly a "big" bjd purchase (compared to, say, a $700 masterpiece fullset), but has anyone else ever gotten "pay jitters" when they got to the last part of the process? Obviously many of you have gotten past these purchase fears (there are enough dolls on this forum to prove it!). How do you bring yourself to hit the "pay now" button on what is a pretty expensive purchase, compared to your everyday expenses?

At Home: Little Ari (Resinsoul Mei), Gilan (Resinsoul Song), Mina (Jun Planning Ai Cosmos), Yukiko (5StarDoll Tong Tong), Julia (Hujoo Yumi), Lion'a (Hujoo Suve), Ella (Jun Planning Hestia Isora), Mint (Fairland Pukifee PongPong, "unnamed thus far" (Hujoo Nano Freya)
Wish List: Delf Ani, Resinsoul Yun/5StarDoll Angelo (f.), Island Doll Emily, BJD Hamster pet

Eventually I just do it. There is a new Loongsoul limited White Tiger doll that I've been looking at for over a week. Looked at it, added to cart, changed mind. Looked at it, added to cart, changed mind. Today I hit the purchase button :)

Sounds to me like you are not going to get over this doll until you buy it for yourself - so just do it! You have all the classic signs of someone who has a doll calling them!

I kind of felt the same before buying my SAyuri. At one point I thought that I don't want her anymore and wanted to just end everything but in the end I paid the seller and she's been with me since May. So, just do it! You may regret later if she gets out of stock or omething else happens. :)

I've done that a few times, myself. Not just dolls, but clothes and accessories, too. This morning, in fact, I was browsing Jpopdolls and added some wigs to my cart, hesitated a few moments at checkout, and then just closed the window. lol Eventually I'll make the purchase. Just not today. When I browse Dollmore and Luts for clothes, I do the same thing, then hesitate and ponder and eventually close the window. I always end up going back and making the purchase, especially from Luts whose outfits tend to sell out fast.

If you really want Yumi, just force yourself to hit the pay button. If it turns out she isn't quite what you wanted after all, you can always re-sell her. And if she IS what you really wanted, then you'll be glad you took the plunge after all and hit the right button this time. :)

Oh wow, I feel SO much better (and so excited)! It took me 10 minutes of staring at the pay button. My heart was thumping in my chest, and I finally hit it... and I feel so relieved! I feel so giddy now and can't wait to see her ^.^

Thanks for all of your support, everyone! (and your enabling, but that's what friends are for, lol)

(It was also tearing me up inside because I've been buying the little things for her over the past few weeks--the wig, the shoes, the eyes (which got here today)--and I just couldn't bring myself to actually get the doll)

(I like to think think that maybe it shows I'm "responsible" for not jumping into something like this so easily?)

Same here. I ordered my Eva a few days ago when I got the note from Iplehouse about their exchange rate changing ... took me a while to work up the courage to hit the button, even though Eva is a must have and I was going to get her anyway ...

Every time I have a definite plan, and the funds available, to make a big doll purchase, I do hesitate. Often for up to a week.
So far the best thing I've found to break me out of that purchasing hesitation is to stay up really late until my brain is too sleepy to complain about my purchase, and place my order. Then I go to bed happy. :)
Which is sort of what I'm trying to do right now, but I've got to decide between getting a body for one floating head or another so it's kind of extra difficult. :P

LOL Come to think of it, most of MY doll purchases end up being made after I've worked all night and have been up most of the morning and haven't gone to bed yet. There may be something to that theory of waiting until you're too tired to think straight. I think that's how I ended up with one more minifee girl than I was originally planning. XD

I just did it again last night. I was browsing Luts for Kid Delf outfits because KDs are small kinda like Minifee so the clothes fit pretty well. A couple years ago I bought an outfit for my boy and there were pictures of a matching outfit for the girl, but Luts wasn't selling it. Well, I saw the girl version on the site last night, finally! So I added it and a couple of other outfits to the cart and ... kinda thought about it, thinking how if this one outfit sells out I'll be kicking myself forever for not getting it when I had the chance, but I ended up closing the screen anyway. lol

I think I may go back today, though, and try again. My poor minifee girls need clothes, and I'd LOVE for my twins to have those matching outfits. And I really will kick myself if the girl version sells out before I buy it. ^^;
