What? You mean that you don't buy the Twinkies that have snake in them? That's my favorite flavor! :D

Realizing that several machines used to make cream-filled strawberry shortcake sat idle when strawberries were out of season, the maker conceived a snack cake filled with banana cream, which he dubbed the Twinkie. During World War II, bananas were rationed and the company was forced to switch to vanilla cream.

*drools*
banana flavored Twinkies.... damn you WWII! I could have been eating banana Twinkies! They sound so delicious!

I'm telling you; forget Hostess. TastyKakes is the way to go. NO HFCS in their products, just sugar, and taste way, way better than Hostess. My local Reasors chain stocks them, but I would not be the least bit surprised to find them taking up part of the now-emptied shelf space other places.

BTW Canadians, your Hostess products are safe. A Canadian firm has the rights to the Hostess name and has been producing the Hostess products up there. IT is solvent (because the vulture capitalists were not allowed to come in and gut the company whilst giving themselves huge raises) so Hostess will continue to be produced in the Great White North.

Have to agree with that. TastyKakes snacks are awesome! Can't get enough of their coffee cakes, especially the little coffee cupcakes with the cream filling. Good stuff!

And so are Little Debbie snacks. I could eat a box of their Star Crunch cakes. Chocolate, caramel, and rice crispies. Who could not love those? And their Honey Buns are nothing to scoff at, either.

This topic gives me such an appetite for all things sweet! Which isn't that good at this time of year. Sinterklaas is visiting our country and like his counterpart Santa Claus he comes with all kinds of sweet and deliscious things which I do not want to eat!! (well I do but my pants say I shouldn't ;) )

Maybe the Canadian part of this company can in time grow and take their business back to America?
