Chae-ri's first photoshoot!

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Chae-ri's first photoshoot!

Postby embyquinn » Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:22 am

My darling babay was kind enough to take pictures of my Chae-ri so I could show off both her and my sewing skills. Please forgive the light quality and the slight messiness of her saran wig; we've got a TD coming in and the wind is like whoa at times. These were all taken in front of our live oak tree in the front yard except for the last one.

Image

Ri-ri's favorite clubbing outfit! Lime green minidress with mocha ruffled hem; stockings and armwarmers; thong panty (not visible, of course). All made by me except the shoes and earrings. (You wouldn't believe what I made it from if I told you.)

Image

Close-up showing pink wig, new face-up and glued on eyelashes. Isn't she gorgeous?

Image

Chae-ri's cosplay from her favorite movie, The Doll Master. She's dressed as Mina, the killer doll who only wants her owner to love her again. One-piece costume.

Image

This pic is interesting because of the greenish tint to the light that didn't show up in any other photos. Of course, light can change quickly when a storm's coming in, but still...it does sort of look like it's from a horror movie, doesn't it?

Image

Finally, a brand-new costume I just finished yesterday. This is hanbok, or Korean traditional dress. It consists of a chima (skirt) and jeogori (short jacket). Chae-ri is, of course, ethnically Korean, although she grew up in Atlanta, GA (which makes her South Korean). :B

Image

Lovely, slightly atmospheric close-up of Ri-ri in her hanbok. This was taken on our front step railing.

Thanks again to my beloved for taking these, whose photography is 1209384710239874092 times better than mine.

Awesome!! You did a really wonderful job on her clothes. :)

And I'm gonna take a stab in the dark, and say that the first dress was made of socks, or some sort of unmentionables. ;) Quite a few of us tend to use socks for clothes, and they always turn out really nice. :)

The hanbok is wonderful! It hangs so beautifully on her.

I'm also a big fan of her hanbok! It's fab. I also like her as Mina - poor Mina! T___T That film made me feel really sad!

Thank you for all the kind comments! Thank you in particular, richila and Hippolyta, for the encouragement on the hanbok. It's the first one I've ever made. I've done plenty of kimono and a few Han Chinese peasant outfits, but nothing Korean before this.

Mina was the first costume I ever made for Chae-ri. I've always been sneakily fond of The Doll Master movie; it's nnt great cinema by any means, but it's certainly entertaining. And I felt so sorry for Mina, too. ;__________; All she wanted was for Hae-mi to love her again...

I've watched that movie 4 times and I still cry at the end. I feel so bad for Mina!

Whats it made of? ;) Now I'm curious!

Love the hanbok! It looks so authentic on her. I've been researching hanboks myself. I had this crazy idea that all my Korean made dolls must have hanboks.

I actually did a lot of research on hanbok before making this. Her jeogori (jacket) is cut and ties exactly the way a real one would. I plan to make her more, perhaps in more modern colors. She loves purple and green...
