Wow. Never thought I'd see a doll make an EID look small  (Apart from Mecha Angels.)
Would the jointed hands work for EID guys?
There's a cat in "complicated" =^.^=

Only if I have enough money to throw around for a single project doll. Otherwise Sabik's way too tall and Vincent himself would be too aloof to fit in with the rest of my dolls and not as versatile in terms of projects, since I can't see him cosplaying any other characters for me .

Hmm... not sure, I'll have to look at them next to each other after I seal them tomorrow. Don't want to move them with unsealed blushing.

Re: Loong Soul MuXuan and ChenXing Update:+ Mecha Angels

Got my Loong Soul dolls all painted up! And my Mecha Angels just arrived today as well!
Weird thing is that both Loong Soul and Soom's boys have the wrong heights listed.
Loong Soul says that MuXuan is supposed to be 73.5cm with head, but he's actually 75cm.
Soom's Mecha Angel Antares is supposed to be 80cm but is actually 76.
Bellatrix is supposed to be 79cm but is 76 as well.

Oh, the Mecha Angels have pants on in the pic because they were the free gifts that came as the promotion that was going on when I ordered. Yay for free stuff!

I named my MuXuan Aristotle, I he's a contender for my favorite now hehe. It's between him and Bichun:

And Lai's (ChenXing) faceup:

I really liked the heels so I thought I'd pick them up and use them on another doll as the character that Bellatrix assumes is not the heel wearing type, but they are really huge! They seem proportionately large even fore the Mecha Angel body. Also had no idea that there wasn't a whole foot inside the heels either. I guess after you paint them you use putty or glue to stick them together.

And I have no idea what these pegs that Soom sent are, but they came in Antares box. Anyone know what's up with these?:

Oh yeah, and here's a pic of the jointed hands next to the Iplehouse EID wrist. Looks like it should be a pretty spot on match size-wise, but Loong Soul does not sell jointed hands separately. They will only sell them with the purchase of a doll:

Oh man I could only imagine Socrates with those heels lol. I hear the Immortality of Soul 80cm boys are actually even taller, so maybe if I put the heels on him he'd be closer lol.

We got a few nice unseasonably warm days this winter, so I took the opportunity to paint up my Mecha Angels that I received recently.

I always feel like I can never really fully evaluate a doll till after I've painted it and restrung it. So now that all that is taken care of, I can mention a few points about these 2. Also fair warning: I'm very picky so there are a lot of little things that really bother me and there are very few doll body sculpts that I really like a lot.

First off, Socrates, my Antares: I looooove that face and unfortunately I don't have a proper wig for him yet. The one I want for him won't arrive till late January with an order I have from RingDoll. So he should look a bit better with his proper silver/grey wig once it gets here. Most people seem to prefer Sabik, but the Antares sculpt is definitely my favorite and having him in person certainly enforces that.

His body however.... -_- Ug, the anatomy is sooo off in so many places it's crazy. I think that in order to make him tall they stretched him out in parts where they shouldn't have, like between the bottom of his thigh muscles and the top of his knee caps. And the space between the bottom of his chest and the top of his stomach. The sculpting of the upper arms was so off that I wasn't quite sure what to do when I was blushing... if I should try to correct it some with color or what. The extremely skinny legs bother me the most. I don't like whole body being so skinny over all, but wearing clothes he should be fine. But those skinny legs... they are shaped so that the legs curve too far backwards and that looks terrible to me. It would have been nice if the legs were at least a bit thicker mid-calf and didn't bow backwards so far.

One good thing about him (at least I think it's good) is that he's very light. In spite of his height, I think he's even lighter than my Iplehouse SID Lee.

Mao, my Bellatrix on the other hand is VERY heavy. You'd think 2 totally different companies had made these dolls. In contrast to the male Mecha Angel body being too thin in many areas, the female body is too stocky and could stand to have much better curves. The knees are too thick, her feet are too small compared to the rest of her body (I think both male and female have the same feet). Soom's female sculpts are always too long between the top of the hips and the crotch area. Wrists are a bit too thick and manly. The inner wall of the bottom of the upper torso is too thick which makes the mid-torso joint not look or work very well.

For some reason, her face looks droopier from a straight on view to me than it did in the advert pics. But when I look at her from other views she looks better.

I had wanted Bellatrix in normal but Soom told me that she was only available in Tawny. The pictures are not true to her color irl, but the tawny is pretty orange/pink, a little more on the orange side. Maybe she'll yellow to something a little less vibrant later. *crosses fingers*

I know I did a lot of criticizing, but I do love the 2 still overall. I think they will both look fantastic once I get outfits all sewn up for them.

But here's a few shots of the two post-painting but pre-sewing:

Very nice. Originally I'd have said I prefer a more subtle shading on bodies but the subtle blushing doesn't show up for the camera all that well. Your more dynamic style definitely has a cinematic feel to it. It probably does well in low lighting too, it would be fun to see your blushing style under different camera conditions. I might be tempted to try a more dynamic shading on one of my dolls just to see how it works.

Yep! That's a thing for me too, because I'm so bad with photography that the blushing and faceup details helps the details to show up a little better for me.

I know I should put some effort into learning a bit about photography but I'm really dragging my feet on that one as it has been like the only artistic field that I've never been interested in for some reason hehe. I think it's because it feels a little less hands-on. Plus hate to think about camera shopping. I have no idea what I'm looking for in one.

Lol. Same here. As long as I have enough light shining down from behind me and onto target object, my pics come out clearer than those of overhead lighting

Nice job. For a moment there I thought I was looking at a portrait.
