I want to do my own faceups so the dolls will look like the characters they're meant to be. Hoping that my ability will live up to my imagination... :|

I do most of my own face-ups. Sometimes, when I know what it should look like, but can't do it I commission someone. I always enhance a face-up-if it is the company face-up on the rare occasions that I don't order my dolls blank.

I mostly do my own, although I do have a few with company faceups and a few dolls that came to me with faceups by previous owners or that were commissioned from a faceup artist by a previous owner.
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

The barbies and Aisling have factory face-ups, but everyone else has very basic face ups by me. Some day I'll buckle down and grind some face ups just to improve, I have some dolls I'm keeping just for this but just haven't yet.

With one exception, (Peapod, who was a gift), I do all of my own :) And body blushing...and tattooing...and scarring...lol I tend to get a bit detail crazy with my own boys

I have mostly blank dolls (Riven, Haruka, Haruhi) one has a face up I did myself (Yuichi) and one had a faceup painted by his original owner (Kaname.) I think I wanna do more personal face ups though.

I'm all about customization; each of my dollieh krewe has at least one "individual" alteration to their company faceup. I don't have a moral objection to company faceups, but I do like my dolls to be individual to me.

Well, I have all three. Five dolls were done by commission, though two of them were purchased with those face-ups already on them, one by me, and three are company defaults.

The two that I got with their custom face-ups already done I got due to the face-ups being what I wanted for the character I had in mind. Why get a new face-up when you find someone perfect, you know? I couldn't adore Brody or Avery more.

The three I had commissioned, I had commissioned because I knew I wanted them perfect and if I did the face-up myself, I knew I wouldn't ever be satisfied with their face-ups.. so it was just better I have someone else do them.. Sebastian, Lettice, and Titiana all look just how I want them now so it worked out well!

Two out of three company defaults I am happy with. Vivica just needed a nice, natural face-up and Dreaming Doll has their face-ups done by Estebebe, a darn good face-uping collective a lot of people commission for face-ups... so I was more than happy to have theirs. My Dreaming Doll Hiro was a wonderful gift from the company to thank me for spreading the word about them. Fyodor's a nice, normal looking fellow so that natural face-up by Estebebe was good for him too! I wasn't about to change the face-up they were so nice to provide on top of the free doll.
I wouldn't mind changing Patrick's face-up. I got him quickly from Denverdoll with a default face-up just because that's the only NS Mai they had instock at the time. He needs a natural face-up too... while his isn't bad... I wouldn't mind something a little more dazzle-y for him. I just don't know if I want to be the one to do the face-up.

I have done one myself on a doll I fully intend to keep that way. Landon has a nice, natural face-up by me. I am fine with doing face-ups myself, but if I do.. it has to be darn good for me to what to keep. I think his is lovely and very him so I like it. If it wasn't my best work and I didn't feel it was to a professional level, I wouldn't be keeping it.
This is Landon's:

It depends upon which dolls. Barbies are too small for me to be messing with. I like rooting them but I rarely attempt more than maybe redoing a badly painted mouth on one of those. I have a hard enough time painting half way decently with bigger dolls. I've repainted the mouths on almost all my MT's, changed out the eye color and eye shadow on some, just for variety but I've not messed with the eyebrows and such, yet. I'm planning on it with the two new boys though. My large fashion doll crowd I've redone quite a few of them, but some still have the factory paint too. I like repainting old Gene dolls and my Tonners but I'm not very good at it. Of course you all know I've tried with PIP Delilah, but I'm still too embarrassed by my efforts to really show her off online, laugh...
