Vinyl dolliehs need love, too!

Not really. What we call "vinyl" is actually PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS, is rigid, light, asnd durable. PVC vinyl takes detailing better, and of course PUR (polyurethane resin) is the alleged gold standard for making dolls. They're all plastics, but that's about where the similarities end. I believe PVC vinyl is more closely related to polyurethane resin than is ABS, but I'm no chemist so I can't be certain.

Oh, and Chae-ri wants to weigh in, as usual.

Too true, Ri-ri. Too too true.

But resin MUST be special! It's so expensive, it has to be! They make Barbies out of vinyl, and everyone knows Barbie is totally gross and unrealistic looking (unlike Volks dolls with huge eyes and pointy noses) and cheap! ;)

I really want to see you use that avatar (the animated one of Chae-ri) on DoA. Just to see what people say.

Well.... maybe the abbreviation for polyurethane resin is just one letter away from "pure?" XD

I would love to, but they don't allow animated avatars on DoA. Trust me, I'm already pushing the envelope to the breaking point over there because I talk about Ri-ri all the time. I just don't mention that she's a Liv doll, and since I stick to topics that are relevant to BJDs in general and not just the arbitrarily determined holy order that's considered suitable for posting, they tend to pretty much ignore me. I'm sure I'll get the banhammer someday when someone's in a bad mood and decides I've been violating their TOS, but until then I'm going to keep right on participating and maybe even bringing something to the discussion that people find useful. I don't post just to flaunt their rules; I only post when I have something relevant to say, and if it includes my experiences with Chae-ri, so be it.

I realized they didn't after you said that. Oh well. It's not worth getting banned over.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know I've contributed to discussions (mostly about dolls sticking to their characters) with examples from my offtopic pile. Luckily, nobody seems to have noticed, and now that I have Dess, I mostly just prattle about her. Of course, nobody pays her much attention either...

Honestly, when I joined, I didn't realize that my small vinyl Volks dolls wouldn't be allowed. I know several times when I've seen people who post about their 1/6th scale dolls I've been half tempted to link them here, but I'm afraid that would be a ToS violation, and then I wouldn't be able to use their Marketplace, or the Database.

Llast time I checked pointing people to a forum where they can talk about their DoA OT dolls is not a ToS violation. PM the info to them if you don't want to post it. I usually PM it cause I figure the original OT post will get deleted and maybe my reply with it.
