I'm wondering if anyone has ever used basic Testor's model paint on the styrene (hard plastic) parts, or indeed any other part of a playline doll, and if so, how successful were the results?

I've noticed that the Monster High CAM Dragon girl is primarily made out of styrene and have been contemplating ways to change her color that don't involve vinyl dye, dyeing, or spray paint. I've had mixed results with all these methods, especially changing the color of the head. I anticipate that it may come out more shiny than I would want, but may be able to mitigate that with Dullcote.

Any thoughts and/or suggestions on this are welcome, and thanks in advance.

i have used testors paint when i customized a figure of mine(pvc though). its realllllyyy shiny!!!

Testors is essentially an acrylic, so there shouldn't be any problems. I seem to remember that Setsuna-kou has changed the skin-tone on some of her customs using acrylic paint. I think she lightly sanded after painting them to remove any brush marks.

Testors comes in two types of paint. One is acrylic, the other is not. The non-acrylic is solvent based and can actually damage some dolls. Test first. Be prepared for adverse results. I would not actually use Testors on a doll. Testors Dullcote does work fine, but will yellow over time. My second doll still has his original Testors sealant on him and it has worn well (except for the yellowing, but he's normal yellow skin resin anyway).
