Equestria Girls.....Human Ponies....Dolls...?!

Wow.....I saw this yesterday and I still don't know what to think.....(Actually, my first impression was 'Noooo.....!' and I'm still rather at that point.)


It was leaked yesterday that at a board conference at Hasbro, they decided that MLP:FiM is so popular they should expand the genre to include products that 12 year old girls would want, too. (Those 'older' kids who snort in derision at 'talking ponies'.....ha ha ha...)

It was thought that making a television series called 'Equestria Girls,' where the ponies are human girls, set in a high school setting with high school problems, where there is 'Principal Celestia' instead of 'Princess Celestia,' it would have a wider appeal to the much sought after tween set who buy toys/dolls.

I don't even know what to think. It's so weird. But once the dolls hit the shelves, I'm sure to buy the Rarity anyway...... ('cause I'm a sucker for anything Rarity....even a strange human version....)

You hit the nail on the head, Grey-sama! Over on the MLP boards, that's what everyone is saying----that MH is such a smash hit, they need something similar to it for Hasbro to create....

Meh unless the dolls are totally articulated I'm gonna pass on both the series AND the dolls. I like MLP as is.

I wish that Hasbro would figure out that MLP is popular because it's MY LITTLE PONY. These are not pony enough to fall into a competition with MH (They're entirely too human looking) and not human-looking enough to not be "holy uncanny valley, Batman!". They're just.....bizarre looking (IMHO). If they don't have impressive articulation and/or excellent fashion packs I'm likely to pass as well. :/

Everyone wants to compete with MH. Bratzilla, LaDeeDa, Novi Stars, it's all oddly proportioned dolls. *but* Where as I think Novi bends the bar so back that they are in a league of their own and Bratzilla is still human enough to appeal to both. I don't see this doll doing that. Not only that I thought the market for MLP these days is Men

Lols it's a spinoff and Hasbro knows their target audience is growing up, so I don't see this as a surprise. It won't have any effect on the original series anyway and I like to have more doll variety.

I crave many Rarity dolls though.
