Hand-knit sweater and first sewn item w tutorial link

Postby LiveLoveYarn » Sun Mar 10, 2013 7:19 pm

So here is my Dark Grey Freya in a hand-knit sweater that I designed just for her and the first sewn item I have made for a doll. It is far from perfect, but I am thrilled. I know where I went wrong and how to fix it :)

Yeahhh...lol, can you see where I went wrong?! :P Oh well. I'm happy for a first try. You can also see I still need to put snaps on her sweater.

Here is the tutorial I used for the skirt:

It is for Blythe but Freya convenniently fits into Blythe clothes so...wha-la!! Of course the tutorial is so simple that it could be easily adjusted for size with the right measurements.

Yay!
Anxiously awaiting Tryniti and Acorn!

Nice sweater, man I am so glad my sister does all my knitting XD. She'll probably like the skirt tutorial though. C:

When it comes to sweaters I'm not fond of snaps. They can be kind of hard keep tight on knitted or crochet things. They usually manage to work themselves loose after a while no matter how nicely I sew them on. I just take a big needle and do like a boot lace of yarn in x's down the back through the sides so I can just open it or cinch it in then tie it in a bow at the waist. It's a lot easier I think. You can just loosen it to dress the doll and to take it off and it usually makes the sweater fit just a bit nicer too. Just an FYI.

Ha ha, lucky you :) Send her the link!! It is super easy to follow and I am like...the worst sewer(??) seamstress(??) ever so my little bit of success is huge. Someonw with experience would have a much nicer looking skirt in the end :)

Wow! Nice sweater. I can't knit worth a lick, but you have some serious skills with those needles.
