What exactly is a 'grail doll'?

For me, I think that a grail doll is that one of a kind doll that you know how no matter how badly you wanted it, even if you had billions in the bank, you couldn't have it. I would love to have a fat ball jointed doll. I only know of one company that would custom make one, and it's like 4 thousand dollars and they are not taking any orders right now. Dang it, I forgot the name of the company, but their dolls are a bit risqué.

Wow, I really didn't expect to get so many replies so soon! Thank you everyone for taking the time to write your thoughts down! :D

I'm really beginning to get a clear picture of what a 'grail doll' is now, or at least what the term was originally supposed to refer to. It's also apparently clear now that I don't have a 'grail doll'. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing..?

The idea of a 'grail doll' sounds nice and annoying at the same time. It'd be awesome if I ever found a doll that I want that much, but not being able to obtain said doll sounds incredibly frustrating.

...Yeah when I actually think about how many years I spent sporadically going back and staring at Sabik's page over on Soom... ( :? 6 I think...)

...Soom were the 1st bjd company I found, I had no idea that they were considered "medium/expensive" in the hobby, so that delayed everything for a few years! I thought all bjds were £600+ ...Then again... Hooray for internships and random wind-falls!

Grail Doll= A much coveted doll that costs several months rent and/or is very limited. Iplehouse Luo, that's my idea of Grail doll because no matter how much I want him buying him makes absolutely no sense financially. $800 with shipping et all? I'd practically have to rob a bank to be able to afford to make lay-a-way payments on him but nonetheless I still yearn. A Grail Doll to me is not a doll I can actually get with a little effort it's more like it's nearly unobtainable.

Soom has a habit of tempting people with pretty dolls, Cyborg Sabix was like way awesome and then they came out with all those monthly limited

Used to think that too with my Dexter, as well as him being out of my height range. I started saving for a Souldoll Vito and got to the point where I was not totally happy with the sculpts offered and realised I had extra cash to add on to get a basic Dexter(I like how he has a resemblance to my other dolls when i saw him in person).

Try saving up for him a bit at a monthly basis, that way the cash is always with you instead of enforced layaway. Keep an eye out for their promotion periods as well.

6 years... o_o" But now you're on layaway and close to obtaining him right? Congratulations!

Yes... Yes they do. And they are so good at it that I almost consider them evil. In a good way of course. ;)

No no no, y'all have it all wrong. It's a doll that, whilst seeking it, requires that you bang two coconuts together. You might think you'll find it in a castle filled with ladies making special underwear but that's just a grail-doll-shaped beacon. You'll most likely might find it in Castle Aaarrrrgggghhhh. Not Camaaauuu, that's in France. But when you DO find the Holy Grail Doll, rest assured that it will be pretty awesome. And grail shaped. And it most likely migrated.

And don't forget to buy a shrubbery for the knights who say "Ni," one that's nice but not to expensive.
