HELP ME identify a doll

Postby cirquemom » Mon Apr 08, 2013 10:12 am

A friend of mine is thinking of getting her first BJD and there is one she liked a couple of years ago but can't remember the sculpt. He was 1/3 size, she thinks Luts and a vampire. Anyone have any idea who that might be? I don't really know the Lutz dolls.

Yeah, Luts had quite a few vampires, both male and female sculpts. All of their limited elves came with extra dreaming/sleeping vampire heads. And basic Shiwoo and Dark Elf Soo also had optional dreaming vampire heads in their parts section. There was also one or two limited Juri or Nanuri heads that were vampires, too. Oh, and their Lu Wen sculpt also had a dreaming vampire head.

So that's:
elf El
elf Lishe
elf Shiwoo
basic Shiwoo
elf Chiwoo
elf Yder
Dark elf Soo
Lu Wen
Nanuri 2007 (elf Moon vampire, I think)

Also, their Breakaway (and/or WooSoo) probably had vamp dreaming heads? As I don't own one, I can't say for certain, however. Unfortunately, Luts removed all their limited elves from their Delf page awhile ago. So no reference there, anymore. :(

Am I missing anyone?

Oh yeah! Fairyland also used to sell a Moon dreaming vampire head with their Feeple70 bodies, which is a sculpt originally released with Luts and fits on Delf bodies nicely. Could be that one, too.

Keep in mind that many of these sculpts sold secondhand have had their eyes modded open, too. So if it's an open-eyed sculpt, might just be modded.

Soooo ... does she have a pic of the doll, by chance? That would probably help to narrow it down a bit. lol

Hi- I don't think she does- just that she liked a vampire doll and thinks it was from Luts. She's not a member of DoA and even if she joined probably can't see the marketplace until she posts however many posts are required. Or can you see it but just not use it? Does anyone know? Or if DoA is even taking new members right now?

I think if she joins she can see the MP, but not use it? But don't hold me to that. She could search the picture gallery threads, though. I'm sure in the photo reference or BJD database sections she'd probably run across the one she liked.

I just don't know if DOA is taking invites or how to send one out.

If I remember correctly she won't be able to see it until she's been a member for 25 days and has 40 posts. Afterwards she can see it and post in existing threads, but can't start new threads (this includes offering commissions) until she's been a member for a few months. However, she might be able to find more information in the Photo Reference or General Discussion subforums. (If she starts a thread she should be careful not to mention she wants to buy said doll, just trying to find out who it was - the one rule they're as strict about as their reputation implies is "no discussion of sales outside the MP".)
Good luck with the head hunting! ;)

Stormlight, there's an "invite friends" button in the top bar thingy. All that's needed to invite someone is their e-mail address.

Can she remember the year and where she saw the doll? There is also the event head I have which is the Juri A head Moon elf. I think he was 2008. And the wiki is available even if she isn't a member I think.

DOA is currently on invite, so she can technically get in.
She may not get MP access right away, but there is always the database.

Technically, but the ones I checked did not show photos.

Just to add my 2 bits for whatever they are worth - not all the Vampire heads have elf ears. '08 Breakaway and also the original Breakaway had vampires heads. So did Woosoo. (Elf Shiwoo Dreaming head wasn't a vampire) Woosoo, Shiwoo, Breakaway Vampires did not have elf ears, so that might help your friend figure out easier which doll it was she liked. :)

Oh, that's right. Elf Shiwoo did have teeth, though. Just not fangs. Wasn't he a sleeping head? I don't remember. He was before my time in the hobby. lol But yes, the regular Shiwoo was a dreaming vampire.
