I'd say a little bit of both.

If they aren't familiar with head molds etc dolls like the Heart Family Mom and Jazzie end up listed as Starr because they share molds. And to my smother all dolls that size are "Barbies" or her little sisters.

What is she really?

Well, she is a Barbie, but one of the Stacie friends. She's an Awesome Skateboard Janet. The Awesome Skateboard dolls and the Gymnast dolls were pretty much the only Stacies I know of from back in the day that were made with jointed bodies (neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, ankles, and a ball for a waist that's technically two joints), tho the Skateboard ones have one intentionally-designed-loose hip and molded on shoes to make them do tricks on a skateboard they came with (the shoes snapped onto the skateboard). Janet tends to be harder to find than Stacie or Whitney (the auburn-haired girl) just in general because it seemed the AA dolls were always shortpacked back then. I didn't have a Janet at all for my "classic barbie characters" section, so getting a jointed one for about what I might have ended up paying for a non-poseable one (maybe less) is great. She's even clothes that fit (I'd have to check if it's the original outfit, but I don't really care-I know the knee pads and one elbow pad are from what she came with), and I'm pretty sure that her hair was originally done in those little braids so I'll just need to freshen it up (and probably replace the rubber bands).

Or to put it short, she's a Janet that can sit in a chair and touch her hair. (Ok, that just sounds weird if one didn't know I was talking about doll joints)

Was able to locate a can of Testors Dullcote up in Anchortown so my son is going to pick it up for me when he goes up tomorrow. (Neither the Testors nor MSC are mailable to my location.) He's also got a respirator I can borrow to use it. Looks like I can get some repainting done soon.

This is the year I'm trying new dolls. Today I ordered my first Na Na Na Surprise doll, named Tuesday Meow. they're like a cross between a doll and a plushie, so I'm totally hoping to cuddle it!

Nanana Surprise dolls are beautiful! They have a nice weight to them. I really love Minna Moody.

Paid ridiculous scalper price to a retailer for a Day of the Dead Barbie. I'm ashamed but I wanted her and she was the cheapest I could find. Really mad that Mattel allows retailers to buy at wholesale price, but still lets them sell over the 'suggested retail price.'
ETA: Also just ordered one of the Barbie 'Black Widow' dolls. I got the Amazon one in the black tac suit, but barbiecollectordotcom has her in a white suit.

I've winced and done similar before (pregnant Midge was not cheap by my admittedly poor standards), but for some dolls it's worth it. Went and looked the Dia de los Muertos barbies up, that is some elaborate facepaint and embroidery on the dresses! Gives me ideas for doing a Monster High that way if we ever get a box that throws a 'spare' of the skeleton girl at me. XD (The one the EO has already has facepaint something like that, but both those Barbies did WAY better) So, did you get the white dress or black dress one? Because two came up when I searched for pics.

Overpaying for one doll is like putting mojo in the doll luck bank. You'll be repaid later with some great deals.

The thrift store with the good books near me has opened back up. Their Monsters and EAH are usually super broken so are there any base rules like must have arms?
