vintage doll identification

My mom was talking about how her mother made her give away all of her dolls when she got to a certain age. Her biggest regret was there was one that she absolutely loved and wished she still had. I would love to identify it and maybe surprise her with it as a gift someday.
Knowing that there are all sorts of doll people here, have someone will have some sort of idea .

Her description:
The doll was wooden
Approximately the size if an msd
sturdy child build
It had 2 buttons. One on its belly and the other on its back
The button on its belly would make it nod its head "yes"
The button on its back made it shake its head "no"
The buttons were also made out of wood.
It has silky hair.

Does anyone have a clue or even guess on where to look?

A good reference site is dollreference.com, but I'm not sure how much information they have on wooden dolls.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it wasn't wooden. For starters, I cannot imagine how a nodding mechanism could be inserted into a wooden doll. Plus, I am 64 years old and wooden dolls were not sold as toys when I was a kid, and I doubt your mom is older than me.

Thanks Victoria! That's not it, but it is on the right track. I sent her a picture and her reply was "similar, but not the same. Longer arms, long dark brown hair, longer legs, red and white dress, etc".
I had been searching for nodding dolls and was coming up empty. This is definitely helpful. I'll do a search on yes no dolls later.
She's only a couple years older than you and she said it was new when she received it, so it is absolutely the right time frame.
