The Firebird

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Beautiful! Your bead work is intense!
Also,
I bet if you diffuse the light through white fabric it will help lessen the shiny. I would keep space between the fabric and the light otherwise it just shines through the cross threads. Good luck!!

Thanks so much! ^-^ Hmm, I will give that a try, thank you :D Although, I must admit, I do want it to look somewhat shiny. Just not so shiny that the detailing gets lost...

So many beads! :o
I would just get frustrated and give up.
I suspect it's probably less the shininess than it is the color that's causing problems with your photos. Some shades of red just don't render well(multiple shades come out looking like only one shade) for most cameras.

That is some incredible dedication, and with fantastic results!

As someone who can get a bit obsessed with this kind of labor-intensive assemblage of thousands of tiny elements (I've done large images with Perler beads and a 20,000-piece PixelHobby image), I can completely relate to the surges of motivation you start feeling as things start coming together and you approach completion.

Kudos to you for sticking with this. The result is stunning!

haha Yes, too many, if I sit and think about it! Well, I think if you want it badly enough, you won't give up :) You may be right on the red. I'm going to keep experimenting, though, because I think there must be some way to get it to look a little better! I'm stubborn, so I will keep trying...

Thank you! :D I'd like to see some of your images too, that sounds cool! I did an estimate, there are probably 35-40,000 beads in this dress (maybe a bit more, hard to say). When I think of that, I think I must be out of my mind lol But I'm so happy with it, I know I will probably do something like this again if I get an idea that requires it. ^-^

Wow, more amazing work. I love that you made the shoes. They are so cute.

I particularly like the leaf patterning, it works beautifully for representing fire. I would not have thought of that.

So much work! This is truly a masterwork.

Thanks so much! ^-^ The shoes were fun to make - I prefer making things to buying them anyways, so I can match them and get the exact look I want. I'm picky that way :P I just wish I could figure out how to make some for myself!

I really like this leaf pattern! I needed something that would not only look like flames, but also mimic feathers, like the ones in my illustration. I looked around a lot, but this was the only thing that I felt could do both. :)
