Decisions: Doll Leaves Amara

Postby voodoolie » Wed Aug 06, 2014 11:18 am

Mmmkaaay...
I told myself I would ease back into the doll world with vinyls, and if I got decent at their faceups I'd venture on to BJDs. Then I found Doll Leaves Amara (the mini). They have an event going on where I'd be able to get her blank head free with the purchase of her body. So like $130. Which is an amazing price, I feel, for such a gorgeous doll.

Thinking of either saving up for her a little or putting her on layaway to save myself 30 bucks for the event special.

Does anyone have one of these girls? I searched but didn't find much. I'd like some more info and I'd LOVE photos.

I have a DL boy body that is going to be for a modified Angel of Dream head, and the engineering on it is very nice. I love the pose-ability of it.

How is the resin color/texture? I'm thinking I like the white on the photos.

I have a smaller than YoSD sized Doll Leaves Mint and a pair of Doll Leaves 60cm NS jointed hands. The hands are very well made-----easily better looking and more poseable than the Dollzone jointed hands!

Mint is adorable and he poses well and is very well made. The resin is very fine and delicate in the hands but they are sturdy and never feel like they're going to break! ^^

Mint's also NS, but looking at them together right now, the hands seem darker and pinker? (Does Doll Leaves offer NSY or NSP colors?)

I saw the 60cm jointed hands on the site and I agree, they're gorgeous. I have a weird thing for hands and pretty doll hands make me smile. I'll most likely end up getting one of their larger dolls in the future just for those hands.

"That doll's face is beautiful!" Me - "Yeah, yeah, but look at the HANDS! Oh gosh the hands."

The resin quality is very smooth! The body I have is white skin, and it's a very warm, creamy color. It might be a good match for DZ WS; I haven't really done a side by side comparison. The seams are sanded from the factory.

Awesome :D I know a lot of times you get what you pay for so a less expensive doll made me go hmmm. Glad to hear it really is just a good deal.

I have Doll leaves grown up Amara (SD version) in normal skin, and event doll Xixi (16 cm) also in normal skin, and jointed hands. Amara has lovely face. First I wanted 1/4 Amara but I decided that I buy 1/3 version (plus they had event, so it was quick decision  ).
Resin is so smooth. Personally, I love poseability of doll leaves bodies. But what was a little bit upseting was her feet. She has bigger feet and it is hard to find shoes that would fit. But I am going to sand them, so it is not big problem for me. I do not know if MSD bodies have also bigger feet. Overall I like doll leaves dolls and in future I will order from them again :) .
Doll leaves offer only one type of normal skin color.
Dolls I own: Edwina (Ds-grown up Amara), Hieronym (Ds-Xixi), Dawei (MH-Draculaura)
Waiting, planning: Lawrence (Ios-Mezz/)

Big feet doesn't really bother me. I like barefoot dollies personally. And if I decide I don't like them, I can just sand them like you said. Not a deal breaker. Glad to hear more doll leaves love stories :)
