First doll you wanted to buy?

The first doll I remember wanting, and asking for extra pocket to save up for, was a Pippa Princess. I loved her ultra long hair (which is weird, because just about all my dolls as a child got hideous hair cuts. Hideous in retrospect. At the time I thought they were about OK. And it meant the hair didn't get knotted up in elastic bands). I eventually got her as a present (after someone from school pinched one of my other ones). And yes, her hair did get cut :lol:

As an adult I had a vague desire to buy a doll that I could take photos of, who was more poseable than Barbie and who could stand by themselves, but had no idea where to look. When I finally heard about BJDs that became wanting a BJD or an Obitsu, and eventually became wanting a Resinsoul Mei. (I no longer have her, I didn't like Resinsoul's white in person)

Aside from the dolls I wanted as a child ( ;) ), the first ball jointed doll I ever saw was a Narae. I have coveted her ever since. I can't find the photos of that particular doll online anymore and I'm not even sure which scuplt she was now, but I still want one and hope to one day add a Narae to my collection.

the TOYNAMI brand 2001 "Princess Ayeka Jurai" from the 1992 Anime series "Tenchi Muyo!"

i got her freshly on the market in 2001 for $27.95 from a favorite local comic shop in my hometown
of PORTLAND, OR. she was my first Anime doll, first doll period, and the direct impetus
behind the development of my entirely self-tought skills in making scale doll clothing.

my earliest effort with her, more a mish-mash of existing BARBIE clothing than anything else.
photo shoot at my grandma's house with her low grade digital camera of the time,
a far cry indeed from the NIKON D5000 DSLR i utilize today;

and here she is, present day, with the same gawdawful stock doll body,
since i still have yet to find a suitable replacement. any tips?
