Arghahjasjw!!! Vince/mini-Havelock arrived - I might post photos if I can find my bloody cable! Argh his little faceplates are so teeny/adorable.

Though argh it's going to be a little bit of a learning curve assembling him - when Donn said he was a kit he really meant it! And I don't just mean stringing...

The v.basics like gate removal are done, but I need to make my own s-hooks, and there's a few v.v.rough patches left due to the gates that are just a tad indented. I don't mind sanding - but it's going to take a little bit of trial and error to work out the happy medium between too rough and too fine since the resin is a lovely matte texture rather than totally smooth and I'd like to keep that... Any suggestions for a grit no?

Is there enough space to try sanding on the inside of his faceplates or head to check the grit?

Would 400 or 600 be fine enough not to scratch the resin but toothy enough not to make ultra smooth? I have nothing similar here I can test them on!

Technically, I'm not waiting for an ordered doll to arrive (that would be far easier I believe). I'm actually making payments on a Resinsoul Ling on another board... I'm dying inside. This will be my first BJD in 7 or 8 years and I want my hands on that resin so bad it hurts. *holds knees and rocks* just a couple more weeks... just a couple more weeks...

I think I'm going to just have to try it and see what happens - his face plates apart from a couple of tiny spurs near the top are pretty much perfect, but are incredibly delicate looking - they really are like v.thin plates! I'm a bit frightened I'm going to end up cracking them if I do anything at all tbh!

Thanks yea 400/600 sounds about right (Argh there's still a part of my brain going only 400??? No you need 1200 then 2400 then 6 and then 1 micron powder!! That's what happens when you spend three years of your life polishing stuff to smoother than a mirror for microscopy...)

I actually had to feel some 400 and 600 grit paper to convince myself it wasn't too rough! (I go down to about 2400 when I'm rehandling knives, so 400 is not far off where I start (240 unless I need to do a lot of shaping by sanding), and the other half goes down to something ridiculous if he wants to show off and put a mirror finish on a knife blade).

So, I was totally counting on picking up my Trinity Elysia at Dollism, but Dollmore just sent me a notice this morning saying she shipped out!

I mean, Dollism is in two weeks so not that long to wait anyway, but if she really did ship she'll probably be here by Monday so yay? Although, I just switched to day work so nobody would be home to pick up the package anyway, which means I'll have to wait until I can get there.

I'm just really confused right now. They even sent me an email the other day with the info I'd need to pick the girl up after the convention. They are totally messing with me, I just know it.

I just made payment for Immortality of soul head (Mezz). :D He is my grail doll. I was so sad when Ios discontinued their dolls. I did not have money at that time, so I was not able to buy him. I realized that I will never get him and that I have to find doll from different company that I would like.

Now when I had saved money for that doll (plus for customs fees) and was prepared to order, I saw that Ios now has few heads from cancelled orders (saddly without bodies). I was so shocked. I could not believe it. At that moment I was crying from happinnes, laughing, it was like heaven (crazy, I know). So same day I ordered Mezz, and now I have to wait for him :D and find body for him :D :D . I am so happy
Dolls I own: Edwina (Ds-grown up Amara), Hieronym (Ds-Xixi), Dawei (MH-Draculaura)

I am squeeing over how most of my new doll's clothes, eyes and wigs are either here or on their way. Now if only new doll would be a good doll and come home to wear all her stuff.
