Dollshe Craft Brand, Anyone?

I've been lusting after Dollshe from afar since I first got into BJD, (Bermann is still my ultimate grail doll). I had a 2nd hand Van head for a while, but ultimately sold him (poor boy had been bodiless for a year lol).

I've done faceup work on a few over the years and the resin is a dream to paint.

*also-I thiiiiiink the Grant Phillipe you linked was painted by SDink. She has an army of Dollshe boys and they're all ridiculously gorgeous!

Nice!!! I really like a smooth resin for painting. I was sad that Granado, as expensive as they are, were so rough to paint. I'm equally surprised that Mirodoll, as cheap as they are, are so smooth and wonderful. hehehe... you never know what you're going to get.

If money were no object I think I'd just start a head collection and buy all the beautiful sculpts and display them in a case. I'd rotate them on a few bodies from time to time.

I actually like a little tooth to the resin when I paint sometimes-I think it's all of those years painting on rough canvas XD
Dollshe's resin is sort of...creamy? feeling though. It's really fun to work with.

Ah, yes. My hands shake a bit with paint brushes so I mainly use pencil. It drags across a smooth surface better. If I had any skill with a paint brush I'm sure I'd change my mind.

Dollshe dolls are very nice. Grant Phillip was my first bjd. I sold him though. From the short time I did have him I can say that his body is incredibly detailed and beautiful. He had little silicon pads in his elbow, knee and torso joints so they kept their position really well. No silicon in the hips and shoulder joints and those were kind of floppy but nothing too difficult to fix I think. Dollshe is having a discontinuation sale (30% off) right now actually. Orders will be taken until Oct 31. They're going to stop producing their 18M line (That's the hound/saint line) and their ausley love head and body as well. Dollshe claims to want to " be becoming ‘Total Shop’ where all our body lines are compatible. Each lineup will be offered with one size customs and shoes."

thanks for the heads up on the sale. Interesting that they're just going with one size. Compatible to me means less variety, but there's already plenty of variety in the world.

That's strange that they're discontinuing that line...again XD I wonder if they'll actually do it this time? There was such a fuss last time that they didn't actually follow through with it.
Part of me is tempted to snag one of them, (there's a part of me that still wants a Van)

Oh gosh, I didn't realize they were discontinuing some of their lineup (again). I don't really follow BJD news that closely, so this was a surprise!

I don't know about Amanda Beauty, but I love Ausley Love! It looks as though her body will be discontinued, but not her head. She's on sale for 30% off right now...don't think I can work her into my budget though.

My first BJD was a DollShe Bermann and I still love him. He's eight years old now but the company was solid then and, from the looks of it, has continued to produce some amazing dolls.

Crud the DSAM35 is on my "need" list - it's one of only 3 bodies I know of with a long enough neck to possibly cope with the giant chin dip on my Bowie MNM... (One of them is already discontinued and at the "stupid cash" pricetag and I don't like the lack of articulation the other possibility has.) That sculpt is beautiful but the (accurate) way the neck area was done means it just eats a huge section of neck on most bodies making the whole shoulder/neck area look really squat.

Scrounging together funds by cancelling a couple of pre-orders I had due in around this time... But argh the temptation aspect is looming the Orijean sculpt has always intrigued me with it's otherworldly looks, the possibilities for a fae/sidhe character...

Further down the Dollshe post. They state...."Some of our heads will be updated to change structure and have better finishing. Bodies will not have update but be offered with whole new form. We will be able to release it after 1~2 years."

So to me it sounds like some of the heads will come back modified to fit a different style body.

What are the chances you could mod a neck to make it longer? Apoxie seems strong enough to handle all the tension the neck needs to take.
