My tiny pain of a dress

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

My tiny pain of a dress

Postby kida_40061 » Sat Jan 31, 2015 1:12 am

I decided the post some of the progress on my latest sewing project, my 5th sewing project with the past 4 months. It is a tiny dress for my Ai doll made from scratch. I drafted a pattern for it and hand sewed the whole thing.

Here is what I have done so far:

The first and second attempt at sewing the bodice. Both of them were unsuccessful.

Now, here is the successful third attempt. (Sorry, I didn't realize I was shaking the camera a little bit.)

Finally, here is what I have learned from sewing this. Lining is great for making clean curves on small edges. When you make mistake, don't be afraid to remove it. If it doesn't go well, stop and rethink what are doing and try again.

So tiny! That must be very tricky.

Ah yes, small sewing is always a challenge! Lining or, for necklines and sleeveless armholes, facings are a godsend as well for neat edges that curve.

I made over one of my Ai's dresses and oh,yeah, what a pain. Just too teeny for me. However, yours looks like it's going well, so brava to you!
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.
