I recently bought the latest Disney Store Limited Edition 17" doll of Queen Elsa from 'Frozen.'
I was hesitant to buy her because I REALLY didn't like her shiny, iridescent face. It's AWFUL! But her gown is a rare one and it's purple (my fav color) and she was half the price of the Limited Edition Coronation Elsa doll from last year (which was my first choice) so....I decided to go for her.
There was actually a fiasco with all 3 Frozen LE dolls being sold out on Disney Store.com even before they showed up in the search engines/catalog (after just 30 minutes!), but I managed to find her on eBay that day, for double the retail price, but at least not quadruple it! :laughs: (We also bought the matching Kristoff 18" Limited Edition doll for double plus his original price, but decided to make our own Anna because the pricing was just getting way too high for all three.)
Well, I got the Elsa two days ago and her shiny face was just as awful or even more so in person than in the photos.
Here is what she originally looked like, out of the box:
And her Disney store stock photos:
Of course, I wanted to somehow remedy that iridescence to her face and also her faceup is so plain and...to me, not very Elsa-like.
I wiped her faceup, thinned her face, and then sprayed her with MSC flat (thanks for all your great advice, K2-sama, kd-san, pandor-san!) to try to remove the 'shine' and it did the trick perfectly!! YAY!
Then, I gave her a new, more detailed (hopefully) faceup and I'm so happy with her now!!! No more ugly shiny face! (All the buyers are complaining to DisneyStore that she looks like she's sweating!)
Here are some photos of her revamped and redone:
Hope you like her new look, too!!! I'll post photos of the matching Kristoff and Anna once we finish Anna's 'Frozen Fever' dress. ^^
