A question about teeny tiny dolls...

Ok, so there are some characters I would eventually like to add to my shelf. In order to be in scale to the rest of my collection, they would need to be 8cm (3") in height. Are there any adult proportioned jointed dolls made that small, or should I get back to ideas involving wire and bead skeletons hidden with clothes?

So far the closest I've found are some old figs called Microman, but they're expensive for something I'd need to kitbash as well as being vague on the actual height (one that I'd been looking at turned out, according to reviews, to be 8" tall... WAY too big.)

I believe that both Microman and Figma are 3.75 inches tall. How jointed do the figures have to be?

While I'd like at least a little poseability in neck, shoulders, hips, and knees, I'm not even going to hope for anything past that really. Given the height issue, I've figured I'm going to end up doing something with wireframe and polyclay at best, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask before I make a mess that probably won't look as good as if I kitbashed something.

The characters I'm trying to make are 'normally' a smidge under 2 ft tall (actually the shortest is 1ft 7in), and I'm trying to do them in 1/6 scale. It's not much space to work with. XD

A bit off topic but have you considered Joe's or Starwars figures? Both are 3/4 scale figures, averaging between 3.5-4 inches tall, they pose, some more than others. Would require modding, but unpopular figures can usually be had in lots for cheap.(according to hubby)

Hmm... I'd probably still have to take a little off the height, but even that might be easier than trying to make some kind of polyclay-and-wire mess. Time to hunt around the action figure section on Amazon! Or maybe I should check a couple boxes in the back room...

Lego Friends figures come in 4 body types, girl, boy, woman, man and are around 2 inches high. They don't have a lot of joints, but they could be a decent base. They run 2 to 5 dollars om Bricklink.

Actually, searching around for action figures lead me to stumble over this:

It's a good deal more poseable than I would have expected, and I see some straight areas in the torso, arms, and legs where I might be able to shorten if I have to. It really looks like something I could go at with dremel, epoxy, and paint and maybe end up with what I'd like to have...

I know there's some 9cm tall alter ego (or alpha ego) 3D print doll kits, I have a similar one that's 14,5 cm and it has a great range, I just don't have a good enough elastic.

^That guy on shapeways has some 74mm kits too, though they are sort of cartoony, and robot-y.

I might have to keep an eye on the girl on Shapeways, as the Blanx figures don't have a female out yet... either that or leave the only girl of the group for last and hope they release one. XD

I'm hoping to do the puppets from the Puppet Master movies (I'm a fan of 1, 3, 4, and 5, grudgingly accept Legacy, Retro, and PM2, and don't like to think about the existance of any of the others XD)... but I want to do them in 1/6 scale to match the rest of my dolls. Which ends up being very tiny. XD

I'm going to order one of the Blanx figures this month (as soon as funds finish transferring to Paypal) and give a try on turning it into Jester...
