I finally finished a dress I'm calling "Smoke and Diamonds."
It is going as a donation to a local BDJ convention in San Jose, CA (Resin Hearts, Oct 3rd).
I'm really pleased with the color combination.

It is based on a Madeleine Vionett evening dress.
It is made of polyester chiffon. I have taken to 'hot cutting' this kind of fabric (synthetic, frays a lot) with a soldering iron on a sheet of glass. I did use fray check along the seam on the skirt where the gray is inserted into the black. One sews the gray onto the black, then cuts the black away from underneath. I fray check right along the stitching from the underneath before I do the cutting away.
This dress, with double skirts, has 16 corners to miter.
