Anyone know what size wig 55cm Obitsu needs?

Postby Lunis » Mon Jul 04, 2016 12:14 pm

Hey everyone! So I finally splurged and got my first big Obitsu, which I've been wanting for years. ^.^ So I'm really excited and trying to find eyes and a wig for him, but I can't find anything definite about what size wig he needs. I believe his eyes are 16mm, but I really need to know what wig size to order. Does anyone have a 55cm Obitsu boy? Can anyone tell me what wig size fits him? I'd really appreciate any help! <3

(Also, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place! ^^; I tried!)

I have a 55cm Obitsu boy - but the wig size is going to depend on which head you use!

From Paradox's site, the one it currently comes with by default uses 9" wigs - but it also looks like you'd need to cut the eyes out as they look solid for decals or painting

Thanks! I had planned to try using the head he comes with since I'm not totally sure about spending the extra on another head right now, so yeah, I'd cut the eyes out. And wow, wasn't expecting it to take that big of a wig. Thanks so much! ^.^

I have one lying around that came with the body. By my measurement his head is 8 1/2" around, but anything in the 8-9" range will probably work. It may need a wig cap or something though if it's loose.

Cutting out the eyes is difficult. I have modded heads before but this was my first attempt at cutting open eyes that weren't really meant to be cut open. Not only do you have to cut out the holes themselves, but you also have to remove a lot of material from behind the eyelids to make eyewells so that the eyes will sit correctly and not be weirdly sunken in. That's the hard part.

Also, to access the head's interior you have to cut along the line on the head to form a headcap, and then this headcap has to be held on somehow later. It can be simple if you're not picky and just use non residue tape. Or if you're feeling ambitious you can add a rim to the head and headcap edge with apoxie putty and embed magnets in them.
The Resin: Nerina (RS sky blue Mei)

The Small Wonder: currently unnamed 11cm Obitsu

The DDs: Ayano, Mitsuki, Akira, Kotone, Selena, Ichigo, Lydia, Hiroki, Kate, Hikari

Great! Thanks so much for giving me the measurement! ^.^
And yeah, I wasn't sure how the Obitsu's were made when their eyes are closed up like that, but I think I can do okay. I mod Monster Highs a lot with inset eyes, so I've gotten pretty used to cutting the shape and thinning the inside edges. I'm debating between cutting them out or doing my first drawn faceup, I guess I'll decide when he gets here. Though now I've discovered SQ Labs heads and I'm really tempted to get one of those for him. lol Won't be for a while if I do.
