Long Time No Here... Sorry.

I am expanding my Goodreau collection of dolls. My first doll was a Goodreau Edge I named Andy. For a while, Andy was my Anwyn, and I dressed him accordingly, but later, I got a Mystic Kid doll who was better suited to be Anwyn, and Andy got to go back to being just Andy.

Recently, I actually found another Edge on ebay. I do not have his picture available yet...

At any rate, I recently added a Goodreau Fannie to the stable as well.



Also, my Goodreau Secret named Prudence just got a new face and new clothes...



Then there is this dude, a Goodreau Schemer I call John the Wanderer...



Finally, here is a shot of Andy...



Mind you, these are not all the Goodreau dolls I own, but they are some of my all time favorites.

FYI, I have not been out here for a while because we had a family issue. My mother went into the hospital at the end of February and then to a nursing home in March. I brought her home at the end of April, but alas, she was supposed to go have surgery again because her cancer had returned, and she went into cardio arrest, so they were unable to do the surgery. I brought her home and on the 5th of May, she passed away in her sleep.

To add insult to injury, my brother died at the end of last year, and one of my sisters became a total basket case, turning on the family and making all manner of accusations about Mom's death and the way we handled her funeral as well as that of my stepfather who passed the year and a half before Mom... So it has been insane, so say the least.

Hopefully, now that things are moving forward, I will be out here more.

In other news...

Before my mother passed away, she used to make cloth dolls of all sorts. About 10 years ago, she had to stop because it was physically difficult for her to do craft fairs, and she stopped making dolls as well (though she made lots of Christmas ornaments and crocheted many afghans).

Before she passed away, she gave me the last unfinished doll. It has no face, no clothes, and she wanted me to finish it (she had noticed my dolls, and thought I would take care of it).

Alas, all I managed before she died was a basic underdress, a yard wig, some knitted slippers and a sketched in face.

So recently, I ran across the doll and thought, I should finish her...

I did. Made her a skirt and finished her face.

And here she is, Barbara Jean, named after my late mother. I just hope Mom would have been pleased with the work I did on her doll...
