kenaiqueen's sewing skillz

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Thanks! I ended up with 2, a Walmart My Life As who is my model and a Disney ILY4Ever Minnie inspired who I just fell in love with. I bought the Wally one because most kids around here have at least one 18" doll and I knew if I wanted to sell any doll clothes locally, I had to make clothes in that size. Barbie size is popular too, but they are so small for my aging hands to cope with. I haven't planned on trying to sell any online. They are pretty much just an Alaskan thing.

Finished Kate's frankenpattern dress and it's not terrible. Fine from the front. The back is a nightmare. She will have to be like Jo in Little Woman who had to keep her back to the wall to hide scorch marks on her skirt LOL! The top is a bustier pattern I got fairly recently off etsy (sorry I don't remember the artist) and the bottom is from my favorite Gracefarie dress. It is three layers of ruffles in case you can't see it. The fabric is a strawberry print from Joann's.

BTW, Kate told me none of that Katie stuff...she is just Kate.

Up next will be a pair of denim shorts for Penny as she still doesn't like dresses very much.

Penny's new shorts are done. I used the free pattern for the jeans/pants on the SmartDoll site. It's complicated and I took as many short cuts as I could including not doing the top stitching. I think they are good. I may remake them at some point with the top stitching, but I have too many other projects for now. Girls are set for summer!

I love the way she looks like a giant next to my Pride Barbie LOL!

Finished a new pleated skirt for Penny and I'm def happy with this one. I think she looks wicked cute in it, altho I think I'd like to find a better top for her. Still a crop but maybe something in lace. Anyway, I struggled with it for a couple of days, pinning and re-pinning it at least 3 times before I got it right. I think I'd like to try another one with thinner pleats to show off the colors better, maybe for Kate to wear. But she's so cute!

Thank you Kirahfaye and victoriavictrix! It's been a tough pattern to master but I'm happy with the results. Here is another skirt, this time with the thinner pleats and I like the way they transition with the colors. I'm not as pleased with the blouse with it tho. I think it needs more casual, but maybe I'll dig out a tank top for her when I have time. I think they look like a cute couple on their way to a Pride event.
