That is a thread/ poll running at DOA, and it is really bothering me.

It's almost like a hidden racial sifter of a sort. And for the life of me I don't understand why the Mod's have not pulled it, or locked it down, because some of the replies in there are seriously not what I would consider " doll topic " answer because people aren't answering with short I like tan or I like beauty white or normal skinned, nope they are getting deep.

Part of me thinks that a big reason for this is that the Mod's are a bunch of what I call " Wanna be edge runner's " : young and not smart enough to realize that they don't know everything there is to know about everything just because they have a web site, and the other half is as old as I am if not older and the are trying desperately hard to look cool to the young hairless peaches they are buddied up with on the Mod board , so they won't do anything about it even though they know better.


I'm not trying to start up a big crazy " witch hunt " or anything I'm just upset over this, because I'm a lover of tanned dolls, for many reasons... the most important one is because I'm a woman of color, and that post came off as saying " hey do you like black people "... and yes I know it did not say that, but that is how I deeply felt it, and you know what really gets me going is DOA is the group that beat it's chest back in the day about being so freaking amazing.

Well it was locked down long ago. The last post was 2 years ago. I don't know why mods don't delete locked threads in the debate section, other than people will merely yell "Discrimination!!! RAAAGE!!! Whenever their threads get deleted." I mean, I still giggle over the fact that the Incest debate is still there. XD

That thread was actually very interesting to read, because there are valid, debate-worthy questions within that thread. Then people took it off-topic and made it personal, and it became a train wreck. Tanned doesn't necessarily means black. God knows that the reason I want a tanned Supia Rosy so bad is because she actually look asian with an asian skin tone. Elfdoll Hazy is awesome too, but she has a bobble-head going on. >.>;; I love my Elfdoll Soah to death, but I have yet to see an asian chick that pale.

Given as we've all pretty much guessed that the mental age (not necessarily related to physical age) of most DoA mods/posters is about 13 I'd say try not to let them upset you. From so much of what I've read my guess is the sort who are posting stupidly are just overpriviledged kids who've never had to think or deal with people of diversity in any form. They just have no clue about how to say things.

I, for one, have dolliehs of many colors because I work and live in a diverse world and want my dolliehs to be the same way

Like I said, don't let'm get to you with their insensitivity and be assured that in THIS forum that sort of thing will absolutely not be allowed!

Have just come from a meet where I could arguably say I was the most well-adjusted, and oldest, person there, and saw some lovely Dollzone tans that make me want an Xmas baby that color. Ofcourse that was more like a you don't have a Dollzone mini what's wrong with you? group but I can see where the insecurities can come from. People gravitate to what makes them comfortable. An unfortunate number of those people then feel compelled to justify their decisions inappropriately, which all too often migrates into personal attacks. There are a lot of things that happens with or without the mods at DoA that I don't agree with, however that forum is a necessary evil in the same way that Ebay is . . .

Currently, all of my dolls lean toward white to fair skin (WS Mei, WS Hujoo, even my CH Ange Ais look fair skinned on the site). Perhaps that's because I'm rather fair . . . I never really thought about it. There is however a red-toned Sleeping Elf Moona on the Marketplace that's caught my eye . . . Not that I have the money for her now that I'm ordering my Qian - who's a pale pink skin tone . . . . *facepalm*

Well in the completely non-racial way, tanned dolls are a bit harder to take care of. You can't sand them without having to do the entire doll, and they turn green in sunlight!!!! Yikes.

But I love them. I like them better than white skinned dolls. Those are horrible to photograph. Lol.
